Atomic's Kongur Telemark Ski is a favorite with ski mountaineers for its versatility in variable conditions. With an 84mm waist, it's wide enough to give you some float in deep snow, but thanks to its 24m turn radius, it devours the hard snow too. If you're a big-mountain skier and want only one pair of tele sticks, get these. Their mid-fat sidecut (117/84/109mm) will work wonderfully at places where snow conditions change from top to bottom. Atomic built these skis with Beta construction, which puts pressure to the edges on turns but keeps the ski's swing weight low. This means the skis are agile enough to make quick turns easily, but they still have enough torsional stiffness for solid edge hold.

Bottom Line: A versatile ski for big-mountain pinheads.

I picked the Kongur over the Shuksan and the Havoc. They are a very fun ski. Not so stiff as to be hard to ski, but stiff enough to handle less than idea snow common in the Cascades. I have them mounted with Freeride AT bindings and I like the combination. They make a good quiver of one, even if it is a jack of all trades and master of none. I think that they handle most conditions I have encountered very well. Some skis may float better or carve better, but they can't go from one to the other like the Kongurs.
