Coax Ski

The Atomic Coax brings no surprises, and that's a great thing. It's a regular-camber, wood core ski with a Western-friendly 105mm waist, built to rip up the entire mountain. Atomic's Step-Down Sidewall technology uses standard vertical sidewalls underfoot and at the ends, with durable half-cap construction in the areas where your skis knock together. That means you retain the powerful edging and damping of sandwich construction, without suffering from the dreaded delam.

  • Adaptive Contact Point increases the tip rise as the ski is flexed for easier initiation
  • Step-Down Sidewall prevents delamination while retaining vertical sidewall benefits

Bottom Line: A great expert ski for the rocker-leery crowd.

The Coax is a ripping traditional ski that will not disappoint! If your looking for a non rockered mid fat, that can do it all look no further.

Ehhh Ski

This was the only ski without rocker I demoed during my demo day, it was 183cm, and the conditions weren't the best early in the morning, but I still didn't like the Coax. It was horrible at short turns if they were possible, not stable, very unforgiving and inspired a lack of confidence. I didn't want to push it on this ski. They did ok in larger turns. Also the ski doesn't float very well. For this ski, I skied my test runs in opposite order. Two thumbs down.
I'm 5'8'', 135 lbs and demoed the 183.

For a comparison between this and some other skis I have demoed, check out:

these skis are sweet! I rode these last spring in the Cottonwoods and in Jackson. Super light for being a sandwhich laminated wood core ski. You don't need to be super man to bend this ski which is the old Atomic way of building skis. They float in the pow, rip a tight turn on the hard pack and were really stable busting up the crud. This has become my everyday ski unless it gets to be nipple deep then I go to my new Atlas's!

The Caox 183 replaced three pairs and five seasons as a loyal Legend Pro skier. Paired with Duke bindings, these skis are a set of go anywhere, do anything, mountain crushing missiles! These skis won the 2010 Fernie Freeski Comp.

UNBELIEVABLE

I work at a ski shop in Steamboat Springs CO. and recently ordered these skis without knowing a thing about them beside of the obvious. I was looking for a new ski for my AT setup and decided to pull the trigger with the Coex. I can't tell you how happy I am with this impulse buy. Shreds pow and tears up groomers surprisingly well. I mounted the Dukes on them and am very happy. The leverage from the Duke allows them to carve like a champ. Definitely the one ski quiver. If your a strong skier, I don't see how you wouldn't like this ski.
