You'll never know if you don't try - Snowshoeing is the perfect way to revel in winter. The basic movement is just like hiking and you'll pick up on it very quickly. To add It's low impact easy on your knees and is a relatively safe sport. If you have any other question about snowshoeing feel free to email @ runningbuddha@msn.com and if you do venture forth let me know how it goes.

I don't want to spur you on to injury, but I totally think you should try snowshoeing. You know your own personal limits, but I definitely wouldn't let narrow-minded societal concerns determine what you can and can't do. I'm sure most doctors would recommend against it, but they're only saying that to cover their ass. A few years ago, a climber summited Mt. Everest BLIND! I'm sure nobody thought that possible, and most people probably tried to talk him out of it. Fortunately, he didn't listen to the weak-minded majority. I hope this encourages you.

Just get the snowshoes

By:

The poles that come in this package are crap. I twisted and twisted, and they never did tighten up. My roommate had the same problem. The bag is fine, but it's not worth $40, and the poles weren't worth anything. I loved the snowshoes. Wearing them was just like hiking. The Wrapp system is awesome as well. One tug tightens everything down, and it does not come loose. I am about 230lbs with gear, and I sink 3-4 inches into fresh powder with the 30 inch shoes. I would give the shoes alone 4 stars, but the poles dragged the package down.

Atlas 9 Series Snowshoe Package

It does the trick. Used it about a dozen times in the catskills and adirondacks. I do agree the poles are not that good. Just need to learn how to work around it. As for as not tightening, I rubbed the expanders againsted a rock to add friction and that did the trick. I do notice that these snowshoes kick up a lot of snow compaired to my friends.
