The Atlas 11 Series Snowshoe includes a V Frame design to make your strides more natural, and steel crampons give you traction in steep, hardpack terrain. An integrated heel lift makes uphill travel easier, and the comfortable Wrapp Plus bindings hold your feet in tight and eliminate pressure points. Plus, these Atlas snowshoes work with snowboard boots, which makes them an ideal choice for backcountry riding.

Bottom Line: Goes where other snowshoes can’t.

Everything I Wanted

By:
May 3, 2010

These shoes are everything I wanted: durable, easy to get in and out of, heel lifts, and sturdy. They are definitely a lot of fun and can take a beating. Have stepped on a lot of rocks and tree branches, but have no tears in the deck. The heel risers work wonders on steep ascents (something you never really pay attention to until you actually have them). I'm 5'6", 140lbs, and went with the 25s . . . definitely happy with my purchase.

How should I decide between the 25" and 30" shoes?

How should I decide between the 25" and 30" shoes? Primary intended use is backcountry hiking / snowboarding. Leaning towards the 25" with the assumption that they would be easier to pack. I'm 175 lbs and would be carrying a pack <20 lbs. Thanks

Go with the 30" shoe if you're planning on backcountry hiking. You fall into the same in between range that my friends and I all do (I'm 170 lbs), and we are all using 30" shoes. If you're carrying an extra 20 lbs of gear and clothing, you're pushing that 200 mark, in which case the shoes won't be of much use other than on packed trails. If you are breaking your own trails in deep snow, definitely go 30". I can't disagree with your packability argument, but assuming that the shoes are being strapped to the outside of a pack (like I do with my stratos24) it's likely that a 30" will strap on just as simply as a 25". INSIDE of a pack is another matter.

Great shoes, prefer bigger clips

By:

Have the 30" shoe. Workes effortlessly with a pack on. The aggressive crampon did not let me down even traversing through some questionable bowls. Very natural walking movement with little snow kick.
However the release on the binding leaves less to be desired. The clips to release the straps are relatively small and difficult to pull when wearing thicker gloves. Caused frusteration the first few times, and its gotten better with practice, but recently I did a 15 mile hike and could barely get them off(mainly due to exhaustion)

Steve,

The buckles should be on the outside, and the loop on the inside of the foot. Check out the video here: http://atlassnowshoe.com/snowshoe/11 under "Video".

Great snowshoes

Used these around Washington state from Rainier to the Cascades. Bindings are pretty easy to put on and tighten. The heel lift makes ascents much easier and so far been amazing and fun to use. Highly recommend!

30" are NOT for 250lb'ers!

Got these to deal with my heavy weight. They did the job but the binding material flexed too much with my weight.

I'm going to go with a 36" length snowshoe.
