Heel Lift Bar is a Must

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I'm an amateur snowshoer, but I love the Atlas 10-30 snowshoes. I'm 175 lbs and the 10-30s work great whether I'm carrying a day pack or an overnight backpack. If you're going up any sort of an incline, the heel lift bars are amazing. I've used these and the MSRs EVO Ascents and love them both.

    Great Shoes

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've gone on tons of outings with these things in the far reaches of Minnesota, including the deep snow slightly inland from Lake Superior's North Shore (I'm looking at you, George Crosby Manitou State Park!) and have been completely satisfied with their performance. The single strap system is intuitive and they're very quick to take on and off as advertised.

The crampons are great for tackling particularly icy hills, and even came in handy a couple times in more mundane situations getting extra grip pushing a stalled car.

The paint job definitely has it's scuffs and scratches from use, but that's really just cosmetic and would happen to any pair of shoes after what they've been through. They've got it where it counts in solid construction.

    Excellent Shoes

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I picked these up end of season to do some snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Having previously rented shoes, my hope was that these would perform better (rentals tend to get balls of snow under the arch). I was not disappointed. I went with several other people and was able to handle slushy trails, ice (on and off lake) and steep inclines with ease. I love my new snowshoes and have already recommended these to several friends.
