    Water-loving wanderer.

From rafting whitewater and portaging with your kayak to SUPing and splashing in streams, the Astral Women's Loyak Water Shoe provides the traction, flexibility, and durability (not to mention cute looks) you need for all your summer aquatic adventures.

The stitched Cordura upper is highly abrasion-resistant for durability, yet also breathable and quick-drying, thanks in part to drainage holes that allow water to escape while keeping entry of silt and sand to a minimum. The upper is also attached directly to the rubber outsole for a low-profile fit that fits into any kayak and gives you enhanced feel underfoot. G.15 rubber helps you maintain your footing on slippery river beds and slick rocks, and flex grooves allow your foot to flex naturally.

    Love!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I love these shoes! I've had trouble finding shoes that would fit in my kayak and not make my toes fall asleep. These are not bulky at all and fit perfectly in my kayak and are cute enough to wear after you get off the river. They are comfortable and don't slip and slide on wet river rocks. These shoes are exactly what I've been looking for.

    like slippers

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10

I am so impressed with how comfortable these are. They feel like slippers that were custom made for my feet. I'm not sure if I just got lucky with the shape, or if they just have that right amount of custom stretch, but I sure do love it.

I usually wear a 9.5 in street shoes, and based on other reviews I went with the 10 and they fit perfect.

    Just what I wanted

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have a favorite pair of shoes I wear so often, they have begun to develop holes. I have finally found the pair that will replace them. These shoes are super comfortable, easy to put on, and are super cute with what I wear. I am super excited to take them on my trips to the beach and hiking through river beds. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

    Order a size up

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 10

I ordered these shoes true to size - 10 and found myself wishing I had ordered 11s. I got these for guiding a low-water season on the Middle Fork Salmon, where I would need to jump in and out of the boat all day long. They were grippy and worked well, but were a little small. They seemed to shrink a bit after they dried in the sun. If you are planning on wearing any sort of socks under these shoes order a size up.

    zero complaints

I have small feet. With that being said, it's really hard for me to find a water shoe that fits comfortably, and safely--until I found these. I LOVE THESE SHOES. I'll stop yelling at you now. I've used them for paddle boarding and playing around in lakes so far, couldn't be happier with their durability, grip, and non bulky style.

    Sporty water shoes!

Life can definitely throw you some curve balls. In my case they have been non-stop lately. So what do you do when life gets rough? Find that happy place. In my case it was the waterfall trails on a hot summer day. What a perfect chance to try out Astral's Loyak water shoe! Thank you to Backcountry and Astral for the opportunity to try out this sporty little baby!

First, loved the color! The turquoise and grey is very stylish. I just happened to sneak around town with them on a few times and who would have know that there were my water shoes!
When you slip them on they fit like a glove. I feel they are true to size. The 'tongue' of the shoe is attached to the 'body' of the shoe giving it the glove like feel. That was great trekking through the streams because it kept the ' tongue' in place and critters out. The insole is cushiony and has little raised circles on them. To me, it feels like a mini massage. Yet it you have hightly sensitive feet, it may bother you. The sole is very flexible. I didn't slip on some very algae covered rocks. However, the only downside with it being so flexible was I felt some rocks penetrating as we were moving along.
I didn't have any issues with the laces coming undone in the water which was something I was anticipating may happen. My feet never felt logged down over heavy. The Cordura upper feels like a light weight canvas, yet is soft and sturdy at the same time. The top of the shoe has a flexible mesh which lets your foot breathe and water escape.
My only suggestion is that if you are more sensitive when hiking/walking on rocks in the water, you may want a thicker/stiffer soled shoe to avoid that. Astral has a strong line of products though, so there may be other options to look into.
Overall with this being my first experience with Astral and their shoes, I would give it two thumbs up! I would gladly continue to use Astral's products. The quality is solid and withstanding. Not to mention, their home base is in one of my all time favorite towns, Ashville, NC! How I miss those Carolina days!

    Sporty water shoes!

I took these shoes on my adventures this winter in Hawaii and Mexico. I used them everyday for Sup, Boating, Trail Running, Hiking, Cliff Jumping, and Walking around town. It was the only shoe I brought, and I was impressed with how it performed. It's been 5 months, and I've been using them for my fitness workouts too!

You can wash the shoe in the washing machine or by hand, and can withstand the beating. I love all the astral shoes they make. I own 4 pair and use them for everything!

I wear a size 9, so if you are planning on wearing socks or a drysuit, go with the 10 or you can take the sole out of the shoe and they fit pretty well! Enjoy!

I love these shoes for play boating and SUPing. They fit easily into my playboat and stick well to a SUP board. However, if you are looking for something with more grip for creeking or running around on rocks, consider the Brewess. The turqoise Loyak is a really pretty color - the shoes do get pretty dirty, but will look new again after a dip in the water! I also love wearing them around town :) I went with a size 9 - I usually wear an 8.5 - half a size up worked for me!
