Designed for both whitewater senders and balls-to-the-walls rescuers, the burly Astral Buoyancy Greenjacket Personal Flotation Device packs padded protection, flexible mobility, and one seriously comfortable fit. Sallys take note—the reinforced shoulders, protective spine and torso padding, and Spectra safety loops are for charging. A slew of adjustable fit features and sculpted chest paneling on the versatile Greenjacket enable paddlers of either gender to greenlight big days in heavy waters.

  • Tectonic construction separates the top and bottom flotation panels for added mobility
  • Additional foam wraps around torso and spine to protect your core from impact
  • A 7-inch elastic band wraps around the torso and mid-back for added support
  • Shorter, adjustable torso height and sculpted chest make this vest friendly to lady paddlers
  • Towing rescue pocket stores 6 feet of Spectra webbing in an enclosed pocket
  • Reinforced shoulders integrate with a chest harness to provide up to 1100lbs of supportive strength for added safety in rescue scenarios

Bottom Line: Unlike your grandma’s orange paddleboat preserver, this USCG Type V vest doesn’t toy around.

This is the best PFD I have ever owned. Donning it takes some getting used to as it has no zippers. It goes over the head and you tighten up the sraps. Holds a short rope in the front pocket and odds and ends in the side pockets. Loads of adjustment, I can get the Greenjacket to hug me just right. The freedom of movement is awesome.

Fantastic Rescue PFD

Fortunately, I haven't had to use any of the rescue features of the PFD since I bought it, but I've been loving everything else about it. It's very comfortable and stays in place. The front pocket is ample and very easy to access. The number of adjustments take some getting used to when donning and doffing the vest (8 straps plus the quick release belt). However, they make for a very secure fit that you can fine-tune. The bottom half of the vest covers the torso very well and the top half doesn't interfere at all with a full-face helmet (like my old PFD did).

Peace of mind

I just got her this week, and I ended up thanking god I was wearing it today. Got caught in some nasty rapids. I was tossed from my boat, and I kept my cool largely in part of this fantastic jacket. She is comfy, and way adjustable. It doesnt interfere with paddling at all. Great PFD glad I got it!!!!!
