Description

A nostalgic look with modern performance.

Named after the famed Nepali Sherpa who shared the summit of Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary, the Astis Tenzing Mitten blends timeless appeal with uncompromising functionality. While perfectly suited and styled for chilly nights out on the town, these mittens are made from hand-stitched suede leather, speckled cowhide, and Polartec Thermal Pro liners to provide the high level of performance required by hard charging skiers and winter sports enthusiasts alike.

  • Hand-stitched suede leather is injected with silicone during the tanning process to provide exceptional durability and water resistance
  • Polartec Thermal Pro High Loft lining keeps hands toasty warm and comfortable
  • High cut gauntlet allows the jacket to slide under without bunching while providing a snug fit that keeps snow out
  • Absence of buckles, drawstrings, or clips gives these mittens timeless appeal and ease of use

What size would you recommend for a gal who wears a side 9 ladies glove?

These mittens saved my fingers

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I was wearing my Astis Tenzing mittens at Whister today. In a completely fluke injury, I tore my bicep muscle when my pole got stuck on a steep. The ER doc was surprised I had feeling in all my fingers given the injury and how long I was up there in cold and windy conditions. I showed the doc my mittens and he told me I was lucky I was wearing them because gloves wouldn't have done the trick. I'm not much of an online poster / reviewer, bug thank you Astis. And to those who are thinking about buying a pair, what in the world are you waiting for?

Mountain Men Need Flair Too...

A former backcountry.com employee Caleb K. gets rowdy on High Boy up at Alta in the Tenzing.

Whenever I rock around the mountain with my Sacajawea Astis mittens on, people ask me if they make a men's version. This is your manly answer...what could be more mountainous?

Nothing. The answer is nothing...

The head to toe setup on that guy is amazing! That mustache, it just...works.

Caleb isn't shy when it comes to choosing pieces that accentuate his mountain manhood. He's always stylin'!
