Here's what others have to say...

Excellent, Durable

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large
  • Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 170 lbs
    Size Purchased: 10

I have owned three pairs of these over the years. The sole wears like iron, it's a good semi-narrow fit (good for us gals) and it does run a little bit big so you don't have to order up a size (like I normally do for hiking/running shoes). I no longer fear losing toe nails from a steep decline.
Only thing is there is not a lot of cushioning or arch support but this is easily solved with an instep.

runs long

I'm typically a true 7.5 but this shoe runs very long in the toe. The width is fine.

    Feedback from the better half

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:Runs large

The shoes are well made and have worked well for lighter hiking trips, when I didn't want to pack my large and clunky hiking boots. The main thing to note is that the size runs large. When wearing thicker hiking socks, they fit well, but I would order a half size down (e.g., 7.5 rather than 8.0) if you plan to wear thin socks.

    Great fit, great shoe

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:Runs large

I knew from reviews elsewhere that this particular Asolo ran large, so I ordered a 10 (I'm a genuine 10.5, but this is almost impossible to find so I usually order 11). Just got the opportunity to try these out in the mtns. and they worked great. Laces allow you to custom fit and the heel fits snugly (something I am rarely able to say), so even on the first time out I suffered no blisters or rubbing. I gladly exchange water-resistance for the breathability of the mesh sides, so no complaints from me there. In addition to fit, the sole is firm enough to protect you from rough terrain but not so firm (like my last pair of Lowas) that they have no grip. They were good on rock faces as well as the trail. Like I said: great fit, great shoe. I even like the color (aqua)!

How is that mesh side panel water...

How is that mesh side panel water resistant?

Its water resistant, meaning the shoe can still get soaked but your feet are protected against a little bit of water. If you need a shoe that wont let your feet get wet i would recommend a shoe that says its waterproof.

    Color and Picture Don't Match!

    • Gender:Female
    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs large

These shoes seemed nice, but I ordered 8.5 and they were a little long for my somewhere-in-between 8.0-8.5 feet. Not to mention I was trying to order brown shoes for work and in the picture the Dark Plum/Lilac was a tan color (which seemed a bit odd). In reality, when I got these shoes they were PURPLE - and not ashamed of it! Needless to say, they went right back in the box. However, it should be said that the make of the shoe was very nice in general, the soles were pleasantly flexible, and maybe I would try these again sometime if I weren't trying to find brown shoes for work at the moment.

sounds like a review of the picture and not the shoe.
