    Better than the bros.

You've already left your snow-bro counterparts behind huffing and puffing on the skintrack, but to really solidify your place in the touring posse, you're going to have to show them the what it's all about on the ski down. Luckily, with the Arva Women's Rescuer Pack at your back, your backpack will be the last thing to throw off your powder finesse. With a close-fitting design, the Rescuer Pack sits close to your back, keeping you nice and balanced. The touring back system ensures a high level of comfort both on the up and down, and the anatomic hip belt takes the weight of your shoulders, so they stay fresh for the way down. A dedicated avy tool pocket keeps your shovel and probe close at hand in the event of an emergency, and a goggle pocket keeps your lenses clear while you ski and skin. The pack has retractable ski and snowboard straps for a low-profile look that won't get caught up on limbs when you're laying down laps in the trees.

    Awesome pack!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm loving this pack and it's different features. The front pocket keeps all of my avalanche gear nicely sectioned away for easy access, and the pocket behind my back is big enough to fit two jackets plus some extra gear (read: chocolate). The top goggle zipper is a bit oddly shaped and a bit shallow when the rest of my pack is full, but I can make it work. There's a lot of little compartments for storage. I like that you can store away the helmet carrier. I'm 5'8 and this pack fits perfectly. My only complaint is the carrying system for skis: when placed on the sides of the pack (which I prefer), the brakes for my bindings spill over the side and rub my back, leaving bruises. I haven't figured out a way to reconfigure so this doesn't happen. Also, for the side carrying system, the bottom loops that go through your skis are a fitted size, so you can only have so fat of skis before they become unusable. I think this should probably be adjustable. There is also the diagonal carrying system...which also works just fine, except the top buckle is connected to the right shoulder strap .. an odd place and way too far forward making the entire pack feel really lop-sided. I think Arva can probably improve both of these pieces, but they aren't so terrible that I'd keep from recommending this pack.

    Sleek, super versatile pack!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this pack in February and used it every day that I skied (about 50 days). My first impression of this pack was how well it holds EVERYthing I need for a full day in the backcountry. The dedicated avy gear pocket is super easy to access. I have only used the diagonal carry, facilitated by removable exterior straps, which attach pretty quickly and easily. It's nice to be able to squirrel these away when not in use, so you don't have a million straps flying behind you. The sternum strap is height-adjustable; I'm 5'7", I can appreciate being able to adjust where the load sits on my chest. Hip straps are super easy to cinch down. I do wish the zippers on all compartments were a touch beefier, but that's really my only complaint. The thing I love the most about this pack is how closely it fits on my back, even when fully loaded with water, skins, extra gloves, layer, hand warmers, trucker cap, shades, mini boombox, etc. I highly recommend this pack!
