i purchased this probe last spring at the end of the season, threw it in my pack and forgot about it until i was packing last night for a trip next week. after pulling it out to make sure i knew how to use it for next week, i discovered that it doesn't actually "lock" in the open position. Is this typical? I rented a blackdiamond probe last year that actually locked so that the probe wouldn't pull apart when probing. Please advise and if not can i still return this item. I have the sheath that it came in but not the plastic packaging.
Matt, the probe should lock. Something must be busted. When you pull that cord it should lock out and below the cord there should be a pin to unlock and fold it up.
