    A comfortable gear hauler.

A backcountry pack should do two things: carry gear and be comfortable. The Arva Freerando 24 Backpack does both with a close-fitting shape that puts the pack right against your back and enough storage space to carry everything you need for a full day in the backcountry. The hip belt and shoulder straps are shaped to fit anatomically, so you won't feel the weight of the pack pulling you around while ride, and they are both adjustable to ensure a comfortable fit. Access to your shovel and probe are easy through the quick-access avy tool pocket, while side straps carry skis in an A-frame or a snowboard vertically. A single ice axe loop keeps you self-arrest tool in tow when the mountain and snow demand it. If you prefer to roll with hydration bladder rather than deal with clunky bottles, a hydration-compatible sleeve allows you to equip the pack with your preferred hydration system.

Awesome Layout in an Efficient Package

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this pack in a lot of different conditions (touring, resort, side-country, boot-packing) and it absolutely crushes. I prefer a pack that is slightly smaller , so isn't bulky jumping on a chair or while ripping down through bigger terrain. The Freerando is small and really light, but also has the layout that I was looking for.

Avy compartment fits shovel, probe, snow saw, cord and it is very easy to access. Main compartment is good sized and fits everything I need for a day, including skins, water bottle, extra googles and food with enough room to stuff an extra puffy in. Two smaller pockets fit my personal essentials, as well as backup hardware I don't go into the backcountry without.

This is an absolutely banger pack if you are really looking for small and light that can go anywhere.

    AMAZING PACK

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used one of the freerando packs last Spring and must say I was blown away by its function, it is also a very efficient weight. Hiking with a few other friends I was noticeably faster on the transitions and ready to go when my friends were still attaching their gear to their packs. Even with my splitboard in split in split mode I could attach it in an A-Frame style in between 1-2 minutes because of the clip/tension system. The other thing you can't tell from the photo is this pack is very slim, so especially key for snowboarding, your balance/weight doesn't get tossed around as much. I can't say enough good about this pack, I have not been this impressed since my first Heli-pro 18 years ago.
