Round 2!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My 2011-2012 VJJs were so thrashed (140ish days over 2 low snow years) that I decided to spring for a second pair.
I couldn't be happier with my second pair of VJJs.
These things are da bomb.

Lightweight, VJJ's Rip in All Conditions

I wanted another pair of wide skis for skiing the powder and other snow conditions - a ski not stiff and turns on a dime. The VJJ delivered. They are lightweight and quick response on turns. I have found the VJJ to be fun in the powder, crud, trees, bumps, and float easily over all types of snow conditions. They are great on the hard-packed groomers too. I have so much fun on the VJJ and bonus it is lightweight, I bought another pair and mounted them with Atomic Tracker bc bindings. Bonus, another company making wide skis for us women who just don't rip groomers and have cool graphics.

I'd go with the Black Diamond Ascension skins for max grip and durability. Trim them to the tip for maximum coverage or the waist to save some weight.

The G3 Alpinist skins are awesome! I like them much better than BD because the tail attachment is so secure. I was sick of losing the tail clips on the last pair of BD skins I had. The locking cam closure on the G3 skins for the tails is genius.

great in huge range of conditions!

i travel too much to carry multiple pairs of skis. my search for a ski that does most everything very well...and many things sublimely has been answered with this ski...i have them mounted with dynafit bindings and with alpine bindings. they have been great for touring, and all conditions this season, from wicked hard pack to pretty deep pow...and of course the graphic is cute and rad without being too girly cute. i am thinking i will mount a pair telemark also.

too good

I have the 2012 model, and these skis are unreal. The 115 mm waist makes the VJJs float on top of virtually anything, while still being able to carve hard snow like no other. The rocker and 5 dimensions make turn initiation a breeze, regardless of snow conditions. I've never had more fun on a pair of skis than I have every day on my VJJs. If you're looking for a killer women's freeride ski, this is it.

FINALLY!

There's a women's ski out there that holds up to to the test of big mountain ladies! Such an incredible ski! Obviously it's spot on in powder...that's not tough to see. But what I was incredibly impressed with was how well it managed on hard pack and bumps. I never feel uncomfortable or unstable when the conditions weren't prime and pretty much ended up using this ski for every day! The tail is soft enough that you can play and throw it around, pop off whatever you fancy, but stiff enough that it won't wash out if you happen to get a little back seat.
As someone who's doubted a lot of women's product and stuck with men's skis, I was blown away by what the VJJ delivered. Never going to get another ski again.

10 Stars for these Skis!!

I am absolutely in LOVE with these skis. They are everything I want in a fat ski and more. They are lightweight yet burly and can handle any condition. They have phenomenal float in the powder, can power through crud, and hold an edge on hardpack. VJJ=Stompability, These things are the ultimate at providing a forgiving landing that is so easy to ski out of and keep ripping. The sidewall cap construction makes these easy to spin. Flex on these is just stiff enough to support aggressive riding but soft enough to be really playful. These are highly recommended for any girl that wants to rip!

Spoke with an Armada rep, and he informed me that there were no major updates to this 2013 model. Though the owl graphics are quite stunning, I must say.

Check out my super in-depth 3 page review of the 2012 model at the website below! This is one of the best skis I've ever tried out, LOVE LOVE LOVE ! ! !
