Arc'teryx Torus Short - Men's

The long, branch-clutching hike to the waterfall was terrifying, but, now that you’re standing at the cascade’s edge and ready to jump in wearing nothing but your Arc’teryx Torus Shorts, you remember that this is what summer is all about. This stretchy nylon hiking short dries quickly and vents excess heat through its rear mesh panel. With a waist drawcord, gusseted crotch, and ample pocket-space, you’ll find yourself reaching for the torus all summer long.

Bottom Line: Hike, climb, swim, and repeat.

Great For Just about everything

Mine are a couple models back and I can tell you that I love them for just about everything. Climbing, Mountain biking, Hiking, even swimming! They're very durable and comfortable, pockets are excellent. The lumbar zip pocket is perfect for an ipod/phone/droid/keys. I really like the gel pocket on mine but it looks like they got rid of that, regardless having the hand pockets on these are great as well. Nice and stretchy. Just today I was taking my bike off my car, caught my sprocket on the shorts and thought for sure they'd have a tear. Nope, not even a scratch, can't tell it happened at all. Get a pair and wear them for everything

If there is no liner, what provides support for "gentlemanly features" while running? Do you wear separate underwear with these shorts, or are you commando underneath? Thanks!

Jones, I wear a compression boxer brief under these. Been running in them for years and they look almost new. I've had them on runs up to 20 miles with no problems. Great for winter running too as they have good pocket to hold gloves and a hat.

not sure what Arc'teryx is thinking...

i'll start off by saying that the cut and fit of these shorts are great. Q. so why am i giving them only 2 stars? A. they are noisy. yep, NOISY.

after only 5 minutes of wearing them, i couldn't take it anymore and had to change into something else. the fabric used, while light and easy to dry, creates a loud swishing sound when rubbing together (as may be expected while walking). totally annoying IMHO. i guess if you're hiking around in bear country it would be great to have a built in noise maker in your clothes. with these shorts you'll give an unsuspecting bear a heads up that you're coming from a hundred yards away. however, for any other application it sucks. a big BOO to Arc'teryx. maybe using another fabric would perk my interest in the future. thank you Backcountry for your return policy.

For no linger type runners

I'm a runner, and I love these shorts. I have last year's model (no zipper pocket on the side, instead small gel pocket), and they fit great and allow me to wear my regular underwear / tights under them. They are tad long for serious distance running, but they do streach and fits like gloves. I love them. I just wish price isn't so high, otherwise I'd buy more.

Up to Arc'teryx standard

Although I bemoan the fact that the stuff is made in china, these shorts are terrific. Just right in the inseam, no annoying liner, perfect length and deep pockets, with usual rugged constuction. Just ordered another pair.
