I love these shorts. They are comfy, the material feels great and I love the gusseted crotch for ease of movement. I definitely recommend these shorts.
I've been using these for a few months now, and the durability and fit is great. This is a nice short under my Arc'teryx harness; really comfortable. I've had a couple pair of this style from another brand, and they fit equally well, but the fabric and construction on these seem like they'll last way more than one season. Initially I thought I'd miss the hand pockets, but the leg pocket is much more functional and allows access while the harness is on.

I've done short hikes in my Tacticians, mostly on the way to climb, and they stay in place well, and are super comfy under the belt with the flat elastic waist.
I took these on a trip to Italy where we camped near a village, went bush walking and swimming every day. These was awesome. I didn't wear anything else the whole time. I also use them for climbing, they allow great movement. Only complaint is the lack of a loop to carabiner my chalk bag.
I ordered these for a hiking trip, and ended up taking them on a trip to Key West first. As someone who comes home and changes into gym shorts first thing, I LOVE these shorts! The waist is nice and wide so the elastic doesn't dig or pinch, the fabric moves with me, they stay nice and cool in the heat and humidity, but they look like a regular pair of hiking shorts. The only downfall is that they only have one pocket on the outside of the right leg. However with my keys, wallet, and phone stuffed into it, they still stayed in place. My gym shorts can't even do that.
I don't know if it's just the colors that are discontinued or the entire short, but I think Arc'teryx is nuts to do away with them.
Is the oregano color truly a khaki color, or is it more green? I have an oregano colored shirt from Arc'teryx but it is more green than the khaki it appeared on my screen.
They're VERY green. Much more green than the picture. I bought these thinking they were more of a khaki color with bit of a tint, but turns out they're predominantly green. Color matching online is always squirrely at best.
I've got a pair of the Arc'teryx Tactician short, and they have more green than the picture shows here. They actually do look like an Oregano color. Love them, by the way.
These shorts are very comfortable under a climbing harness. The waistband in particular is where most shorts get all cinched up, but these shorts have a wide, flat band that makes them feel practically non-existent. They do run a bit small, so if you're iffy on the sizing, go up rather than down. The oregano color is VERY green. The product photos make the color look Khaki with a hint of color, but they look very different in real life. The shorts provide an unhindered full range of movement, making them perfect all around bouldering, climbing, and gym shorts. The zippered leg pocket is slim, and won't hold a lot. I use it to safely store my wedding band while climbing. Anything like a wallet or cellphone would be a tight fit and probably decrease the comfort factor during activity. Highly recommended.
I purchased these shorts one month ago, and have worn them every day since (well almost every day). They are by far the most comfortable shorts I own. Loose fit, catering to very well to rock climbers which was also the primary reason I purchased them. After I realized how awesome these shorts were, I go home and put them on every day after work...it's now a routine.
I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers. These shorts are addictively comfortable. They are great for climbing, lounging, canyoneering, desert hiking, mountain climbing, camping, backpacking, etc.
They do have a slight swishiness to them, but that won't keep me from buying another pair.
I couldn't recommend a pair of shorts higher than these. Get em!
