The Arc'teryx Men's Stryka Hoodie hugs your body close while you ascend a skin track, drop into a new trail, or backpack through crisp fall weather. Fluid in fit and detailed right down to the balaclava-style hood, this midweight hoodie fills in the gap in your layers between your thin next-to-skin layer and that heavyweight insulating layer you reach for when truly frigid weather rolls in.

  • Torrent fabric is synthetic so it dries quickly and helps move moisture away from your skin to the surface of the fabric so the moisture can evaporate quickly
  • Torrent fabric includes spandex for a flexible stretch that keeps this top close to your body for warmth
  • Balaclava hood sits close to your head so the hood easily fits under your outer layers or your helmet

Great idea, excellently executed.

This is probably my favorite Arcteryx item. It doesn't feel like a baselayer this thing is plush. It keeps you warm, breathes well, doesn't stink, and you can wear it out. What more could you possibly want.

Worn 72 hours Straight

I have the blue moon color, which is very accurate to the color shown in medium (me: 6'2" 160 lbs, 35 in sleeve) and it has the perfect fit that I wish all of my shirts have. Usually you trade increased back length for having to get a size that's too large and doesn't fit right up top. Not the case here; longer back length and it's still athletic fit up top.

It started as an insulation layer, but then evolved into being worn on the bike, hiking, sleeping in it, to the grocery, bar, and then at one point was worn 72 hours straight and hit all of the aforementioned activities in succession. It's very soft and has a super thin fleece-like texture on the inside. I found the hood to be just the right cut, it doesn't bunch up or flop around if you're hanging upside down. Not warm enough to be warn alone comfortably in the 30's to low 40's but it's warm.

One of my all time favorite fits. I'm a "no brand" guy so I wish the Arc logo wasn't on it but other than that I love it.

Stylish and comfortable

I really love this hoodie. It fits perfectly, looks sleek and is super comfortable. Its a longer hoodie than the other ones I have, comes down to about mid-thigh on me. I've gotten tons of complements on it.

Its a bit tricky at first to figure out how to put it on... the balaclava style hood makes things interesting... (but it makes me feel like a ninja so thats even cooler [I feel six years old again...])

Not super warm, but then again its a base layer and meant to have stuff over it. Great for fall/spring weather though.

By the power of the Teradactyl!!

This thing is freakishly versatile. I bought it as primarily an around town sweatshirt. But it quickly found its way into my climbing pack and on an alpine adventure.

I had forgotten my light weight rain jacket, and had to settle for this bad boy when thing do as they do in the alpine and the weather got rough.

Not only does it block wind like a champ, but it is also extremely warm on the body.

The only minor thing, which is more of a personal preference than anything, the neck hole is a bit on the small side.

3 season comfort

I mainly ski in this layer and it works very well as a warmer base layer. I typically wear this under my shell down to temps in the mid 20's. Anything colder than that I wear another thicker mid layer over it. The material on this is stretchy and the inside micro fleece is very comfortable. The hood is awesome on really cold windy days where it blocks wind and blowing snow from going down your back. This layer is so comfortable that I wish I had one for everyday of the week. I basically live in this thing from fall to spring. Typical Arc-teryx quality that you can count on.

Love the fit & feel

I could live in this hoodie in fall & winter. It has an athletic, close fit which I like and is a little stretchy so it moves well with me. Looking forward to trying the balaclava hoodie under my snow hemet on a powder day.

How does this compare to the Patagonia R1...

How does this compare to the Patagonia R1 Hoody?

I own both the R1 and the Stryka and I would say the R1 is lighter and allows for more airflow. The Stryka is a warmer base/mid layer. I have worn it over a t-shirt and as a base layer. It is very comfortable and does have a longer cut than the R1. I have a large which I can pull over my butt when wearing it as a standalone piece.

My chest size is right around 40" is this...

My chest size is right around 40" is this made to wear tight or loose? Not sure if I should get the medium or large.

This is a "form fitting" piece, so it's meant to be a relatively tight fit, which leads me to recommend a medium for you.

That is not to say that this can not be worn in a larger size (large in your case) as more of a mid-layer with room underneath, for a base-layer. Hope this helps!
