Get out and shred in the most brutal weather conditions with the Arc'teryx Stingray Gore-Tex Softshell Pant. Your waterproof/breathable pants give you the weather protection you need to crush backcountry ascents and protect you from wind and flying snow on the way down. Keprotec panels at the ankles save the hems from crampons and ski edges, and the gusseted crotch saves you from the em-bare-assing blowout. the imbedded Recco safety device helps rescuers locate you in the event of an injury. So get out there; you just ran out of excuses.

Bottom Line: For the days that send other pants running for the closet.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

An official Arc'teryx repair job is your best bet, and they are notoriously reasonable for cost (not so much for shipping, etc)you can arrange it on their website.
Alternately, I like seam grip on the inside of the pant. Just a thin skin seals and stays flexy and waterproof. The seam grip sticks to the fuzzy inside really well if you give it a bit of pressure.

Your best option would be to send them to Arc'teryx. Its also the most expensive. I've found a little GearAide in a patch (both inside and outside if possible) with rounded edges and seam sealer (like what you'd use for a tent) works great. Its a little more durable and only slightly more expensive than duct tape.

No instep guard!

By:
January 2, 2011

Nice fit and great material, but I didn't realize that these don't have a instep guard. If you ski a lot of bumps, trees, and crud, I think that the cuffs are going to get ripped up.

I returned them for that reason.

I noticed the cuffs have the powder skirt all the way at the bottom, which is different than having it about calf length. Do you pull the snow gaiter over your ski boot with these? I'm used to the calf level snow gaiter that I usually leave above my boot.

Put your pants on first, then boots, and pull the powder cuff over the top of your boots. The cuff is attached about mid calf, and has enough length to go over the top of the boot. Don't leave the cuff above the boot, where it won't keep the snow out.

Change in Color?

By:
November 29, 2010

If you’re looking at Carbide, the color is not the same as shown online!! Carbide is more grey/ green than khaki as shown. Nice enough color to keep, but would have preferred to know what color I was getting.

Wore them at Jackson Hole over the weekend in 20 degree snowy conditions - plenty warm with mid-weight Patagonia Capilene underneath. Bought size medium, which fit pretty well at 6ft, 170lbs, although they could stand to be slightly longer. Tall was too long for me.

I just got the size small in the mail. They fit perfect. I am about 5'8" 130 lbs. I had the mediums but they were huge unless i tightened them a bunch. It just looked really funny. I'm really happy with the fit of the small.

My waist is 31"-32" (again 6ft tall, 170lbs), and I tightened the straps a little so they fit perfect. Meduim (Regular) may be too short for you.

Large is supposedly a 36" waist while the medium is 33". I bought the medium and they were huge on me. Keep in mind, I'm about a 30" waist. The Beta AR pants in the medium was perfect for me though. So I really can't say for sure which one will work. I am waiting on the small size in the mail. Just keep in mind, these are a relaxed fit.

will size Large work for 6'1" / 185 lbs or Medium better?

Personally I was way happier when I opened my package in the mail. I love the Carbide Color. I bought a Carbide hat from Arc'teryx and it was olive green. Its hard to explain the color of Carbide, but it goes really well with a Lichen Top :)

No vents? Didn't these used to have thigh vents?

For a vented Arc'teryx Gore Softshell pant, check the Sabre. And yes, the Stingray pants had vents a couple years ago.

Killer pant for extreme conditions

By:
October 27, 2010

Just tried these for the first time at Loveland as it is the first ski resort open so far and the blizzard crazy snow and wind were no match for these killer pants! I was warm and dry and the fit and form worked flawlessly. I have a 34 waist and 34 Length so I went with the extra large for a perfect fit. Its a little baggy in the waist, but thanks to those built in adjustable tabs and belt which held all day, I easily adjusted it down to my size!
