Bottom Line: The Stinger flawlessly maintains a comfortable temperature throughout aerobic approaches, resting transitions, and hard-charging descents.
This glove has been a staple of mine for years, my first pair was stolen three days after purchase. I love them for their dexterity, their breathability, warm yet great for action. Great for the climb, good for the descent. Not great in cold weather, and can get wet in warm conditions. I have used them extensively and love them for backcountry skiing, I can pick up a dime with them yet I am wram enough when not messing around and pounding laps.
I use these for most everything. The leather is soft, the glove fits well and it is warm enough to keep your hands warm down to about 20 degrees. Super tough. They can be machine washed. Order your regular size and they fit snug. They are a form fitting glove. This is the kind of glove you will want to keep forever.
The Arc'teryx Stinger glove uses lo-loft powershield(gamma mx) on the back of the hand. There is fleece bonded to the leather too, that extends into the fingers. Make sure to size up in this glove.

I ordered a men's medium and received a woman's small...Had to pay return postage and no one acknowledged that I was sent the wrong item nor offered to credit the return postage...not a good experience....
These gloves are very medicore. I hate to right a bad review on Arcteryx but. These gloves fit way to small leather starts to peel of a little bit, always feel soaked inside. Plus these are made in China vs Canada
I need to order one of this Stinger Gloves but I need XL Size. Could you please help me with this? I have tried to contact you by phone but I have no success. Everytime I got answered the receptionist trasferred me to someone who could not help me and made me call again. Which I did 5 times!!!
I've been wearing protective leather for different sports for a few years now and I think I can honestly say, in my own experience, if you just wait and keep wearing the gloves (or boots, or jackets, etc - I ride motorcycles as a way of life, and spend time breaking-in stuff all the time) the leather will suddenly begin to relax. It seems to take about two weeks for me, if I keep after it every day. I know it's hard to make yourself put on a tight, uncomfortable glove and make repeated fists, but it pays off, BIG TIME, in the end if you simply have to be able to "feel" what you're doing. Keep at it, they stretch way more than you would guess! When they are "on," there's nothing like it!
I have huge hands, and wear XL in just about every glove I have ever owned. Tho I never wear a Lg, sometimes I do wear an XXL, but very rarely. My new pair of Stinger gloves are tight for now, yes, but I know this is right where they should be because they are brand new. NOTE - they will stretch. I ride motorcycles and as a result have to buy new leather gloves all the time. YOU WANT LEATHER TIGHT AT FIRST - I know this to be true. Leather stretches a lot, I mean, a lot. That's the good news of it - if you have the patience. Just the simple act of pulling them on and taking them off will serve to break them in a bit. Try watching TV for an hour here and there, or driving your car or riding your bike in them. They will begin to relax, and you will end up with better "feel" as a result of taking the time to do it right. These are well-made. I'm sure the Canadian division or the Arc' could do a better job, but still, it's really hard to tell with leather as a medium of constuction - every glove's gonna be different anyway.... I even see differences between matching pairs of the finest leather gloves. They are as good as they need to be - and you will notice them as definitely high-end when you get your hands in them. The velcro wrist-strap is well-designed, and offers a good, slim fit. The leather pieces seem to be cut well and fit together snugly. Tolerances are good. Stitiching is very good. I am satisfied with the overall look and feel. The only downside I can see is that the stitching is not up to Canadian quality on the pinkie-side, outer-cuff joint, right where they sew the labels in - it's the spot right over the little "ball" that is my knobby wrist bone.
Follow up: I forgot to add: I'm 6'2" 190 lbs., with size XL hands. I bought the Stinger in extra large and it is the RIGHT size for me. My hands are wide across the palms and backs, and my fingers are very long, with medium thickness. My wrists are slim, and my hands are normally muscled.
does anyone else get the feeling that Arc'teryx gear is not as good as it used to be ? These gloves seemed sized too small, had uncomfortable seams and just did not look like they would last long, so I sent them for return. Pity as I have a ton of their other gear (hard and soft shells, harness) bought years ago that is bombproof. Made in Canada vs made in China ?
I have the feeling that you expected a broken in glove and got one that wasn't. You judged durability by looks instead of by testing it, though granted we consumers are typically shy of testing durability instead of reading reviews of it.
Hi, don't have many Arc´terex product, (the Stinger Jacket and Pants, a Backpack, Naos 45 and a Merino wool sweater). The Stinger stuff and Naos is made in Canada = great quality, the sweater is made in China. Have notice that The North Face products that I bought 15 years ago and Made in USA are still great but the new stuff from TNF one has to return frequently. I guess that if we would like to have high quality we have to pay extra for stuff that is made in USA/Canada or in Europe. Most people will not, hence better get use to high prices and low quality.
Everything you read about Arcteryx gloves being small is true. I mean cutting off the circulation in my fingers small. I thought that my hands were average size so XL should do it. I was wrong. Only there were no XXL's available. Oh well. Quality gloves though, wish i could own a pair.
I bought a couple of this gloves from Argentina; previously I did mi homework (checked the size chart) but unfortunately I couldn´t use it because they ar so small. Before placing my order I read another comment below so I bought a large one when I am M, it is unbelievable! besides the size problem, the gloves SEEMS to be very good!
Good gloves. Worth the Price? Maybe, don't know yet. Take heed of the other reviews and order larger than usual. I think the "unisex" sizing is Canadian for "Womans." There pretty warm, probably get away with these 90% of the days in the Wasatch. Great snow protection, they stay dry inside even when the snow gets sloppy.
Believe the other reviewers who report the gloves running smaller than you might expect (perhaps because of the unisex sizing). I first ordered an XL, thinking that would be large enough, but found them very tight. I gave them to my son-in-law (who normally wears a medium or large glove). The XL fit him perfectly. I ordered an XXL for myself, and they fit well. Besides the fit issue, I think the gloves are great -- warm, comfortable and tough. The quality problems mentioned by other reviewers are not apparent to me.
Definitely the best glove for alpine climbing I've worn. Wore them on a short trip to the Alps last summer. In normal summer Alpine conditions they weren't tested. Our last day started out bluebird, but we got hit by a summer storm - snow, hail and iced-up ropes to abseil on. I never had to take my gloves off to fiddle with gear, and my hands stayed reasonably comfortable in verging on winter conditions. One of my friends got frostnip, I just got slightly chilly hands. I've just bought a size small as the mediums I had stretched slightly on wearing and are a bit big now. The leather seemed to cope with climbing on rough rock very well, we'll see how it fares long term. Highly recommended so far.
The Arcteryx Stinger Glove Unisex offers versatility crafted from supple weatherproof leather. This glove is augmented with breathable Polartec Powershield softshell fabric. Full finger leather construction and a reinforced leather palm for excellent durability. Short-length cuff with expansion gusset and tab adjustment. The Arcteryx Stinger Glove Unisex gives you ideal temperature regulation and supreme dexterity for the approach, transition, or descent.
I have to say that I'm not completely sold on this glove for a couple of reasons. First, as every who has reviewed this product can agree, they run very small. I first got an XL just to play it safe because I'm 6'4" and I tend to require larger equipment, but I was astonished when I struggled to pull these gloves on. I eventually had to get the XXL gloves and they fit as they should. Secondly, I'm not to pleased with the placement of the top stitch that holds the leather upper part of the glove to the Polartec Powershield softshell bottom. I'm not pleased because the stitching runs nearly over my knuckles, which puts pressure right on the joints as I flex my hand. Lastly, I'm beginning to question the overall craftmanship with which these gloves were constructed. Nothing has fallen apart on them, but for an Arcteryx glove I was expecting something that wouldn't have tail threads popping out and also something that could keep me warmer. Now, the warmth issue might be due to the fact that it's been below zero or zero nearly everyday for the past few weeks here in MN, but I just can't seem to keep my fingers warm. However, I do have to say that for their size, weight, and material, the Arcteryx Stinger gloves have held up better than any other small glove I have ever owned. I haven't had any water bleed through the material or the stitches while wearing them. Also, the velcro tabs at the wrists, which I first thought weren't going to be hold up, have surpassed my expectations by stopping the gloves from bunching and by generally making the gloves more secure. Unfortunately, given the cost of these gloves versus their overall performance thus far, I must suggest that those in search of a glove keep searching.
