Zip up the Arc'teryx Men's Stealth Jacket and check out the town between expeditions. Arc'teryx's Fortius stretch fabric increases your comfort and freedom of movement so you can have as much fun away from the mountains. Throw your passport and boarding pass in the Stealth's internal zipper pocket. Arc'teryx articulated the Stealth's elbows, and lined its sleeves with nylon so you stay comfortable while scrambling around town. A brushed, tricot-lined body provides excellent breathability, and gusseted underarms further increase your mobility. The DWR finish repels early-morning mists, and a zipping chest pocket holds your coin so you can grab a quick snack before the flight.
Bottom Line: Arc'teryx packed a payload of comfort and mobility into the Stealth Jacket.
I got this jacket to look good, and it does. It is also super functional when the weather turns on you. Arcteryx quality and urban style. This jacket commands respecvt.
Brian, Thanks for your question. Check out the Arcteryx Venta AR. The Venta AR is Windstopper and features a bottom hem length that might work for you. I hope this helps.
I have several Arcteryx jackets and wanted one that was good for travel without a technical look so thought Id try this one. Nope, didnt like it. Because of the funky collar and zipper, boxy fit. The material was a magnet for hair and lint. It was not warm, functional or attractive. Returned it without wearing it.

I am 5'10" 180 and a 34 length sleeve, and 32 waist..how much more room is the M vs. the L, I don't like to be super restricted under the arms, but I like a more tailored fit than the box look I wear a M in the Zip Cardigan and 1/4 zip pullover.
I think you'd fit the large better in this particular jacket, mostly because it's a fairly trim fit in the torso. I almost always wear Med in Arc but at 6'170, like the Lge better, but it's not baggy looking.
this jacket is OK , i was expecting a bit more from arcteryx....way to generous waist for me .....no way to adjust waist... like it was designed for a pregnant athlete...
It's nice somebody's making a jacket so the unreconstructed gear head blends in a bit easier in the public forum of airports, city streets, etc. It's certainly pretty enough, but doesn't really have much useful function. The front metal zipper is maybe more fashion statement than function driven, and the collar is good provided you are inside a building. My main bitch is its functionality or lack thereof. It's very tight under the arms for me, though I am a robust medium at 5'9" and 170 lb,s which definitely limits it for layering purposes. The outer pocket is almost inaccessible and so doesn't serve the purpose of easy passport/ticket access. I get the feeling it was designed on a computer screen and never actually field tested. It's also not particularly light. Hope they try again, so gear heads can look urbane and casual.
Fortius is a stretch woven plain weave fabric made of continuous textured nylon/spandex filaments. It is similar to Schoeller Dynamic.Arc'teryx products made with Fortius or Gore-tex are both treated with the same DWR treatment. Gore-tex is %100 nylon, and Fortius is %84 nylon and %16 spandex. The DWR sticks to Nylon a lot better than stretchy spandex, so the DWR is going to stick to Gore-tex a lot better than it does on Fortius.
This jacket was a huge disappointment. I was looking for something casual that could maybe pull some double duty for traveling, etc. Not going to get it with this jacket. No insulation, awkward fit, decent looks are only half the problem.
How Arc'teryx thinks they can sell this thing for $200+ is beyond me. Even if I got it on SAC for 50% off, I would be annoyed. It took me less than 1 minute before I had this one packed up and sent back for return.
Jacket runs BIG! I am 6'3" 185# and because I wear a size 44 usually I wear an XL if atheletic cut. This Jacket is too long and too big in the chest. If you are borderline between L and XL please order the L. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with this jacket!
I'm not really sure I 'get' this jacket. An arcteryx jacket that does not contain Gore Windstopper, Polartec Wind Pro, of Polartec Powershield, but instead "Fortius"? What kind of insulative and wind resistent properties does this material have? I'm guessing almost none of the former, but some of the latter?
This jacket could be called a heavy weight wind breaker in my mind. It is going to resist a bit of wind and water, but probably shouldn't be relied on as a weather blocking jacket. More of a casual around town jacket that will keep a bit of weather off you, while being very comfortable. Could be compared to the Marmot Driclime or Arc'teryx Squamish Windshell as far as wind and water resistance go.
So, I don't know what the other guy was wanting, but this is a great jacket and I have received many compliments wearing it to the office. Lightweight, but very waterproof, fits well and durable. Good inside pocket for your phone or ipod and comfortable lined pockets.
I commute on the ferry/bus in Seattle and it's been a great coat. Yes, it's a bit more than I originally wanted to pay, but the brand/quality is solid.
If you want an insulated backpacking jacket, buy one of those. If you want a sharp looking, dress casual weatherproof coat to wear around town or to work, buy this one.
Bought the jacket 6 weeks ago, using it to travel and during less formal events. The looks in combination with a great feel, wind resistance and water repellant functionality is what i was looking for (missing to date)
The pockets do not really accommodate travel documents, not large enough for passport, paper ticket, and a map for example. The outer chest pocket is difficult to reach.
I am 6', 220 pounds and usually need to have an XL with Arcteryx, but this jacket would have been fine as a Large too.
Great fit and comfort. Soft, quiet stretch fabric has great water-resitance. This jacket is not insulated at all; it is a soft shell with a lining. Still, it's reasonably warm over a layer because of the wind resitance. The zipper is backwards (as in left-handed, ladies, italian, etc.). Not a big deal, but a little awkward. Almost sent it back because of this but I think I can get used to it because I do like the jacket.
