If wind makes you squeamish, try the Squamish.

Sure, the sun's out and the weather's warm, but you can sense the cold front sharpening its teeth on the other side of the mountains and feel the stiff breeze that's the harbinger of a serious storm. Don't turn around yet, though, because you're wearing the Arc'teryx Squamish Men's Jacket, which is all about lightweight wind protection, exactly what you need to finish your hike before the storm rolls in. Ripstop nylon keeps the gusts from stripping all the heat from your skin, and a DWR finish repels those fat pre-storm drops as you hustle down to safety, while a front wind flap, sealed cuffs, and a hem drawcord rebuff sneaky drafts before they can turn your core to ice.

    The perfect spring jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Small

Have had this for two years and washed it once. I run, hike and bike in this thing and it's held up to everything. It resists light rain, lots o' wind, and works well as a workout piece or for around town. I do wish the fit was slightly slimmer, but overall, it's been well worth the money I paid.

My only gripe is needing two: one in a flashy color for working out and one in black for the officer.

The photo below is after a heavy spring rain. I stayed dry for the first mile, but after that the deluge won.

Very good, need to improve on zipper

Its always a pleasure purchasing from Backcountry for my Arcteryx gears(collection)..overall this Squamish jacket is very good, I've purchased the non-hooded version, super light material, bundled up in a tiny zipper pocket that fits in the palm of your hand if you need to store it away in your pocket when doing your walk.. my only suggestion to Arcteryx is to use a smaller size zipper on the next variant, the material and weight of the jacket is SSoo light that the zipper is alittle off balance. When the zipper is fully pulled up, that zipper head gets into the way, i would have preferred the same size of zipper like the one used for the pocket zipper for the main zipper as well and could use an extra pocket or two to make it even more useful, but still keep this light and thin...overall is a good performance piece, that bundled up into a tiny package.. with room for some minor improvements...
