The Arc'teryx Men's Scorpion Ski Pants provide an incredible combination of warmth and breathability to make your next ski day as comfortable as possible. Their waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Soft Shell High Loft material has a soft hand and a warm fleece lining. Two-way side zips provide extra ventilation when the sun comes out and heats up the slopes, and the Scorpion Pants' articulated knees increase mobility, so you can tear it up on any bluebird day.
Bottom Line: Feel better than ever before when you hit the slopes in the Arc'teryx Scorpion Ski Pants.
These are the best ski pants I have ever owned. I love them so much that my wife bought a pair too. This pair is actually a second pair that I got on Steap and Cheap because I like them so much. I am 6' tall and 200 lbs and the XL fit like a comfy pair of jeans. They aren't too warm on a long backcountry hike, but they keep me warm when skiing in bounds. I really appreciate the waterproof seams and zippers that even hold up to the occasional wet snow storm. I have yet to be disappointed by Arc' Teryx.
I ordered these for comparison with some other ski pants -- I'm a big+tall guy, so the options are somewhat limited. Sizing runs big -- I normally wear a 40x34" or 42x34" pant, and the XL/Tall (listed as 39x33.75") is just about right. XXL/Tall would be falling off me.
Very solid construction. These are 'semi-insulated' soft shell pants, with a thin fleece lining.
I eventually decided to go with the Arc'Teryx Stingray pants instead, because of the following:
1) The 'Stingray' pants are lower-bulk/less insulated (they use the "Low Loft" GoreTex softshell material, compared with the "High Loft" in the Scorpion.)
2) The 'Stingray' pants have elastic ankle gaiters (instead of just a drawstring on the Scorpion).
3) The 'Stingray' pants have normal hip pockets instead of the thigh ones. The thigh pockets are kind of useless IMO.
As a downside, the 'Stingray' pants don't have the zippered thigh vents (but with less insulation, that should be less necessary.) They are very similar; the choices come down more to personal preference and if you want more or less insulation.
Wondering about Arc'teryx sizing in general, I have read that it is running towards the small side right? I usually wear pants between 32-33, will the medium fit me? Large is probably too big and long for me, true?

I'm a 36 waist and 31 inseam and the Large fits perfectly. Much more comfortable than Stingray Pant - mostly because this fits better and material is softer. Styling is progressive enough for boarders. Also has Gore waterproof guarantee and is made in Canada.
I have about 30 days on these pants this season, with high praises and a few minor complaints. The fit is great and the belt system rocks if you lose some weight. If you're athletically built and eat steaks and drink beer occasionally, arcteryx will fit you. If your tall and eat 6 gram of granola a day (only), patagonia will fit you.
Onto the problems. First, the chord that tightens the bottom to keep the snow out always loosens. I am about to tie it in a knot, but then it won't be adjustable so I haven't done it yet. Second, the side vents come open at the top after a full day-- slightly annoying and didn't happen with previous arcteryx pants. Why not 3 zippers? Then it could be all three be zipped down to the bottom.
All in all, quality is great as you would expect from Arcteryx and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend.
Quality pants...kept me comfortable even with -45 degree windchill. Sizing chart was very accurate, had ample room for 36" waist in men's large size. Expensive but worth the price.
Very nice pants, can't beat softshell feel plus waterproof. I have the Stingray pant as well but these have a bit softer outside feel and have a little more of a fleecy lining. Arc'teryx makes the best general purpose outerwear. I can't wait to use these on the slopes.
Clearly, only the non-black colors are 50% off. The black is only 20% off, but obviously they list by the highest discount because if you want these pants for 50% off, they are available. Just not in black.
you can tell that arcteryx has been making snow pants for quite awhile. my friend has had a pair of old ones for over 7 years and they are still holding up. anyways these are great for a couple of reasons. One the feel is great compared to the proshell stuff which is kind of noisy. also the fuzz inside feels good to the touch and probably provides a little insulation. I was skiing yesterday on a very warm day and there was water everywhere. The pants repelled it no prob. Also they are very good at keeping the cold out on very windy days.
These are a very solid front country pant but too heavy and too well insulated for back-country use. The monochrome is probably too subtle to appeal to most of the halfpipe set and lodge-sitting fashionista hipsters. But, after a full day on lift and hill, my lower half was dry: no sweat, no wet. The fabric feels tough enough to stand up to several seasons of chairlift abuse. I keep wanting to put my hands into pockets that don't exist.
I bought these pants last season and have skied in them all over the country and they are awesome and worth every penny. I just ordered a second pair to have a backup because I love them so much. I have skied conditions from -10F to 40F and from blizzard conditions to pouring rain and these pants never let me down. They are a baggy fit but fit true I am a 34 waist in jeans and I bought a Lg 36 waist (room for layers) in these pants and they are perfect. It took me some time time to justify spending so much on ski pants but they are worth it they withstand everything you can throw at them.
i am considering either the stingray or scorpion.... im between a 34-35 waist... short inseam... tendency to get a bit clod.. intermidate skier... any recomendations on size and model to buy.. im not sure if im a medium or a larger... keith
These pants are the shizz. Have skied these pants for about 21 days so far. Totally waterproof, windproof, and the fuzzy lining keeps things toasty, not to mention comfy. I am hard on everything I own, and these pants are no exception. Despite this, they still look brand new after a quick trip through the washing machine. Not so much as a scuff on the fabric. Worth every penny!
Bought these pants and the inside legs were tearing by my third day. Without a reinforced layer around the bottoms, they will be in shreds by the end of the season. These pants are meant for boarders, not skiers. I talked to the Arcteryx rep and they are replacing them for me with the Sidewinder. They admitted the marketing should have been geared more toward snowboarders. Bummer though because the fit and feel of the pant is awesome!
I have a pair of these. Awesome pants. I'm a stickler for venting and when I ski, or do anything else active in the winter, I heat up quickly, and usually burn up in most garments. I'm psyched these have side vents. The fabric is soft and smooth and the inside is warm and comfy. Nice cut too. I'm 5'10", 160 lbs and the M fits perfect.
Hi. I am considering Arcteryx Beta AR or Scorpion pants for on piste skiing and have some questions. What are the differences between the two stylles? I've heard that their sizing is slightly larger than indicated; I am 32 waist which falls between S and M - which would you recommend? Could I purchase both and keep the pair that fits better? Can I make use of the 50% discount coupon/number you sent me by email? Thanks for your help. Makoto
I skied over 50 days this winter in these pants in all conditions....wet slop to waist deep and had no qualms about spending as much money as I did for them. Yeah they are pricy, but absolutely bomber. One con though is the softness of the XCR shell, I cut the inside of my legs up with my edges pretty good. Perhaps next years model will have a reinforcing layer to prevent this?
These pants are unbelievable; they are worth every penny. They are sexy, warm and bombproof. The sizing chart was right on, the fit is perfect, Arc'teryx makes great products
I bought these pants because I was looking for a pair of pants to keep the wetness out my but since I sit down in the snow a lot since I am a snowboarder. Prior to my Arc'teryx, I had two pairs of Burton and Bonfires that simply were not up to the task. All this past winter, my Arcteryx scorpions completely keep the water out in all conditions. One day we snowboarded for six hours in constant moderate rain. Every piece of my clothing had leaks, except for the Arc'teryx scorpion pants. The pants were a medium and fit very well. I bought it off internet and the color was not quite what I expected, but I really like the color. The side zips that allow air flow do not have any mesh, so if you need to vent, you risk, getting snow in your pants. Overall great pants, would buy them again, no doubt
These are a great pair of ski pants, with a few cautions. The outer material is fantastic with the usual Gore-Tex water beading off effect and keeps out cooler winds and snow doesn't stick to the soft shell material.
Movement in the pants is great, if they are sized correctly. People with bigger legs, be careful. These pants do fit a little small in the leg circumference department.
Also, they are the most breathable pants ever. People who do a much hiking as skiing will be overjoyed while people who mostly stay in resort will maybe want to go with a heavier weight layering bottom on this pant.
One more thing, might want to get an after market belt. I find the belt to be a little flimsy.
Overall, a great pant for the more athletic and energetic skier.
I upgraded my ski pants this year to the Arc'teryx Scorpion pants. I was really glad I did. The first test for them was a trip to Copper Mountain Colorado. The snow was coming down and it was really windy and cold at the 12,500' peak. I was completely warm and dry with only a layer of light thermal underwear on under the pants. The fleece lining is very comfortable. Lower on the mountain, the temps and wind were much more mild and the fresh snow was really deep in places. The pants kept me very dry when sitting and the cords on the cuffs kept all that lovely powder out. The vents worked great when things heated up too. I really like the sitka color with my black Arc'teryx jacket too. Great style and great performing gear as usual.
These pants have very high tech materials, nice texture and bomber feel. In terms of functionality they are roomy and have extra room for knee pads. The downside are the pockets on the leg--who wants to have stuff in their pockets on the legs when they are skiing?
These are the best ski pants I have ever owned. I love them so much that my wife bought a pair too. This pair is actually a second pair that I got on more...
I ordered these for comparison with some other ski pants -- I'm a big+tall guy, so the options are somewhat limited. Sizing runs big -- I normally more...
