The Arc'teryx Rove Short has a relaxed, laid-back look that is great for hanging out in the backyard or around the campfire, and the technical fabric will keep you cool if you decide to take a quick hilltop hike to check out the view. They're even quick-drying so if that hilltop has a hidden lake, you can jump in without worrying about your shorts being wet all night.

  • Cayu fabric is lightweight, quick-drying, and flexible to keep you comfortable and mobile on and off the trail
  • Relaxed fit is roomy and easy to kick back in
  • Gusseted crotch gives your legs more room to move so you never feel restricted by your shorts
  • Hip pockets, back pockets, and secure thigh pockets hold your essentials, and they all have drainage holes in case you end up in the water

Nice shorts - room for improvement

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great fitting short, love the length (just below the knee). Has a nice feel to the fabric and it breathes relatively well. The fabric seems to change color in different lighting. I bought Heron and it is a dark grey with subtle blue contrast stitching. In the bright sun the shorts looked much lighter and the blue contrast really was visible (nice touch).
Gripes. The fabric looks stained after a few hours of use. After doing some casual running followed by a visit to the park. The shorts had marks all over. Gatorade left marks on the fabirc as well as light dirt from sitting down.
front pockets need to be an inch or 2 deeper (cant hold much). and the side stash pocket could be a touch bigger to fit an iPhone.
Lastly the fly closure (same as most of my boardshorts). while not a deal breaker i would still prefer a zippered fly

Just a follow up to my review.
I find I have to wash these shorts twice sometimes to get them clean. After 1 wash I still see spots where drinks or food or who knows what got on them. I find that I have to spray and wash these shorts quite often (compared to most other shorts I own).
Not sure if the fabric needs to be washed in a different detergent to get clean.....

Perfection!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I purchased these in the Outlet & it is worth every penny... even at the full price! They are super light, fit great, & seem like they will last forever! The fact there is no fly (like mentioned below) is very minimal in my opinion; just unbutton them & do your business. They work wonderfully for every warm weather activity!!!

No fly. Nuff said.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

There is no mention in the BC description of a very important fact--these shorts have no fly. Arc'teryx says they have a "zipperless gusseted fly." Bypassing the temptation to make jokes about a gusseted fly or the presence of drain holes in pants that have no fly opening, I'll simply say that this feature was the deal breaker for me. The fit is also slightly smaller than typical for Arc'teryx and the stitching on the front is a little goofy looking. Fabric seems nice, though.
