Bottom Line: Rho, Rho, Rho your way to a warmer layering piece.
This is the most comfortable fleece layer I own. For skiing in Jackson hole a couple of weeks ago, I wore a silk or capilene base layer, then this, then my outer jackets (a softshell and a hardshell), and it was perfect (temp in teens-20s). My wife wore the women's version of this, but with a proper ski jacket (no softshell-hardshell combo) and she also said it was perfect. I'm 5-8, 145 lbs, and the Small is fitted: not snug, but not baggy--just perfect. I got it for skiing, but since then I've been wearing it as a regular fleece when I'm out and about. It doesn't look too technical, and the fit is just right.
I am 5'9 154 to 165lbs and I always fit medium in the Arc'teryx, they have a good athletic fit!If you are a body builder you might fit a large(Or a big upper body, barrel chest! When I weighed over 165 medium was getting tight!
This top is great for layering on colder days, for me. I'm a pretty warm blooded person, so on normal days around 20 to 30, this top is too warm for me, so I would go with the LT top if you ski on warmer days. I got the Large and am 6'1, 190, athletic build, and it fits pretty well with just a regular base layer or under armour under. It's not tight like under armour, but fits snug like a mid layer should. Overall, a great peice to add for colder days and has that great Arc' Teryx performance I've come to love.

Combine this top w/ Rho LTW and you have one dynamic duo! I wore these together w/ a shell in the backcountry and I was extremely warm and comfortable. It might be a bit too warm when the temp is mild while backpacking. The front zip does provide adequate ventilation if you start to sweat. It's perfect for when you are chilling around camp after a long day. I'll take this top everywhere I go.
just bought the rho lt: warm, warm, warm, but? is it likely to shrink? worn it four days in a row, need to wash it, dare I put it in the washer? or should I woolight it? if it shrinks at all, it'll join all the others in my closet that are worthless!!! what a waste that'd be! it's perfect right now, but if shrunk, would be worthless.
While I don't have this exact top, I do have some other tops made from the Polartec Power Stretch material. I usually to a separate wash for these materials on gentle low and hang them up to dry. Haven't had a problem with them shrinking. The following info is taken from the Arc'teryx site for this particular top: • Machine Wash Gentle Low• Do Not Bleach• Line Dry• Do Not Iron• Do Not Dry Clean• Do not use fabric softener. Wash dark colours separately.Hope this helps!(Added By TMC later) Wash in cold water, following Greg's suggesstions.
Put on a singlet and they are good "first" layer...Put on midweight long under wear and this is a good midlayer...I combine often with a Marmot Driclime windshirt to complete my layering.
I absolutely love this piece from Arc'teryx. In fact this was the third one that I now own. I live in them, they are so warm and comfortable. Would highly recommend this item to anyone for a base layer or a nice layer by itself.
Well obviously the fit depends what size you get, but this is made for a more "active" fit if that helps any. It's meant to be more of a compression fit than a baggy fit. Not skin tight like underarmor, but snug.
I don't splurge often but I'm glad I did for this. I was looking for a light weight mid layer for under my soft shell. This works perfectly. The outer material is stretchy to allow for a tighter fit, while the inner material is fleece for comfort/warmth. It's so comfortable that I often forget to take it off.
It could be worn as an outer layer to in extremely mild conditions but probably works best as a base/mid layer.
I'm 6 ft 175lbs athletic build. Large fit perfectly.
You could certainly use it as an outer layer, but it's not designed to be used as one. "The dual identity of these wicking layers makes them great both as a warm expedition foundation or as an ideal aerobic midlayer."
This is a great shirt. Very comfortable, soft against the skin and warm. The fit is snug, since it really is a baselayer. I wear it alone around town, not to show off (cause I'm a little pudgey) but because it's so comfy. Besides, the wife likes it, so it's a win-win situation. It keeps it's shape even after not washing it for several days. One of the detail pictures shows the sleeves with a strechy fabric at the wrists, but that must have been for an earlier model because the two I have don't have it - the sleeve is the same for the whole length except for just tapering down. The price is a little high, but did I mention how comfy it is?! Remember when you were in high school, and you had your favorite 'dirt-shirt' you wore all the time, which annoyed your mom and kept patching it up becaue you didn't want to get rid of it? I will catching up to Joey F soon!
