Keep cold weather guessing when you pull on the Arcteryx Mens Rho AR Long-Sleeve Shirt. This double-agent base layer also acts as a cozy midlayer when the temperature really drops. Polartec Power Stretch fabric moves with you and wicks away moisture in the process. Lightweight and close-fitting, the Rho wants to be your new shirt on the go.
I already ordered the xxl which should be here tommorow. On the off chance it is too big I think I will want to go a size down but wouldnt be sure this is the best option. So I need to ask about best fit. I intend to use this as a base layer. I am 6 '1 250 lbs mostly muscle but with a moderate beer gut. Seriously I am not really fat anywhere but my gut, not even on the sides (no spare tire). Wide shoulders etc... Out of everything I have ordered recently this is what I am worryng most about primarlly because it has to fit under everything, move, not restrict or bunch up etc... Opinion on best fit appreciated.
At my worst, about 2 years ago, you had 3" and 30 lbs on me. I have a large Rho that I could squeeze into without too much difficulty even then. The only problem I noticed was that my gut made it seem like the large was too short. You'll probably find the XXL to be a loose base layer. An XL may be a tighter fit without being restrictive, but it's hard to say.
fits great, excellent craftsmanship, and incredibly high quality. my twin raves about this product and every time i steal it i know why. lightweight and water repellent. good stuff. highly recommend

This is the ONLY Arc'teryx shirt that I've bought that I did'nt love.It does not fit like anything else I've got from them-I can't even tell you it did not perform well,as I could'nt even get it over my shoulders. As always though,Backcountry stands behind everything they sell and immediately got me sorted out with a Arc'teryx Tau Pullover,my 3rd.
The Rho AR is ever so slightly warmer and has more stretch. I'd say the main difference is the smooth face on the Rho AR that helps it slide under layers and also bounces off light snow. It also won't pick up fuzz or pet hair like traditional fuzzy face pieces.
once you get past the price you will love it. nice enough for the town great for cold weather activities i use this for mountaineering under my shoftshell and it is the perfect warmth to weight ratio. breathes well and dries fast and is super soft on the skin.
this has been my go-to pullover for the past year and it does it all! It sheds light rain like the back of a duck but smells MUCH better and is extremely soft and comfy and super stylish. heck, why not look good and feel good? this thing gets more compliments than any other item i have. i typically wear a small but a medium is a better option for this guy (6'3 175ish) i have one in both sizes and gave the small to a friend because it shows my sasquatch belly when i raise my arms in it. medium is much better for the rest of the world on me.
Very well made and excellent fit. Am 6' and 195, XL is form fit for trail running, etc. and XXL is great for casual wear when very cold. I own 4 of them.
Just got one of these from SAC in size M and I'm 6'3" tall and weight 170lbs. The fit is pretty perfect except probably length wise it could have been slightly longer. The sleeves are long enough for my long arms which is nice and it is a bit stretchy which is perfect to ski/climb with.
the warmest and most comfortable base-layer out their! the zipper dose not chafe and it stretches with every move! very warm by itself! the only thing its odors get trapped in it so wash it everytime you use it. buy it!
Write your question here..Arcteryx Rho AR vs MH Power Streach Zip T. Is quality of fabric used by both manufactures same? I do have MH and Marmot Power Strech already. Marmot's fabric is thinner and after about 10 washes looks like a rag. Hovewer product tag was stating exactly same fabric.
There are a couple versions of Power Stretch, and it's not obvious who's using which one. The better version has a higher nylon content which helps it hold up for longer. Arc'teryx uses the higher quality version of this fabric, and this, in combination with the fit and construction, are what separate the Arc'teryx Power Stretch pieces, like the Rho AR, from power stretch from other brands.
I could live in this thing - fits perfectly, (6ft 160 - Medium), blocks the wind, cozy on the inside. Great by itself for running in the fall or layered under the BC Rime for running in winter (in Canada at least). Highly reccomended.
I've been using this as a base layer alone, for really cold weather (down to 30ºC below cero) to climb and do approachs always in hard alpine style. As soon as I stop to belay, camp or just take a rest I wear my insulated jacket. This way I keep my body warm enough, avoiding to be sweaty and loose heat for evaporation or convection.
Absolutely the best in class (in my wardrobe at least). I wear it skiing as a mid-layer under my Gore-Tex shell and am good down to single digits with no problem. For those who wonder if Arc'teryx is worth the price - it is. I would give it six stars if they let me.
i was looking for a nice mid-weight powerstretch top to wear alone on chilly days and as a layer on colder ones. i thought this was exactly what i wanted, but looks can be deceiving.
for one, the sizing is different than all other arc'teryx gear i've used; it runs a bit smaller. not a problem as i could have easily swapped sizes.
the deal breaker for me was the hem, or mainly how it blouses out. i'm all for a drop tail to give some more coverage in the rear, but the bottom-back seam juts out in a skirt-like fashion. it looked like i was wearing a dress from the back. needless to say i returned this top.
I love this fleece. The stretch makes it fit very nice, and it is as warm as a wool sweater. The price is not too bad either. Keeps apperance and shape well after washing. Guess I'm going to get this one in another color, if I'm not going for Peak Performance new heli mid layer. Got the PP black light, and loves that one just as much as the Rho AR.
Always spend the money on Arc'teryx, because it's always worth it. I've worn this as a midlayer on bitter cold ski days and have been very impressed (and warm). I also like this as a casual sweater type shirt for nights out. Yes, I like to wear my gear to the bar. I'm looking forward to using it as a top layer for early season hiking.
fits great, excellent craftsmanship, and incredibly high quality. my twin raves about this product and every time i steal it i know why. lightweight and more...
