These shorts let you do it all. Here they work great for flying around on a broom. Took a quick spin Harry Potter style.

What shorts?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These shorts are great? They are light weight and dry quickly. The cut is made for action as they do not bunch up or restrict movement. The pockets are well placed and not to big or bulky. I wish I had ordered more colors. These shorts are so comfortable that I forget that I am wearing them. You won't be disapointed.

great shorts

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great quality shorts however they came up a little too short for me. 6'7 with a 34 in waist and i didnt like how high they came up above the knee. But awesome shorts, wish they would have fit better

These are great shorts. The fit is close but not tight, and the flexibility is amazing. These are my new favorite shorts for the outdoors.

Solid

This shorts are amazing!
The material is super light and breathable.
IF you need a solid pair of climbing shorts, get some Arc'teryx long shorts.

Great Shorts

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought the Rampart shorts and North Face Paramount shorts at the start of summer. I found my self only wanting to wear the Ramparts. The are so comfortable and great for walking, hiking, biking, and just to wear around town.

I was initially worried that the cargo pockets would not keep items secure, but this style is far better and provides easier access than the velcro style. I will be picking up another pair of these shorts soon.

Great Shorts

The Rampart's classic Arc'teryx fit is perfect for me at 6-2 and 210 - 215. I only wish they were made out of the same material as the adventus, which I had to return because they were too small to be comfortable hiking in all day. The 6 pockets are also an excellent feature.

Best Shorts I've Ever Had

This are my favorite shorts I've ever had. I wear these climbing, hiking, backpacking, and wearing around town, they are very comfortable, stylish, and excellent range of motion. I got a pair of black when they were on sale to see if i would like them, and they are great. I plan on getting each color. The pockets are great and stuff doesn't seem to fall out if you sit down. The cargo pockets are really nice, if there is nothing in them, you can barely tell they have cargo pockets. These are great shorts, they are a little expensive. Arc'teryx is one of the best and i would recommend these to any climber or hiker, or anybody for that matter.

Great look and confortable.

These Shorts are extremely durable look great and feel comfortable!

The only negative in my eyes, the fabric feels and sounds like a tent flapping in the breeze. It sounds like plastic and has the textured feel of a raincoat.

That being said I still love these shorts! If your gonna play rough you want clothes that can take a beating and these can.

Good shorts

I have used them hiking, climbing, and just casually wearing them for quite some time now. They have stood up well and remain comfortable.

Favorite shorts now

Liked the Rampart shorts so much I now have 3 pairs. Very light and comfortable with free range of motion. Quick drying and apparently durable as well. No regrets.

Also try the Rampart pants. They're great and the most comfortable pants I have now.

sweet looking shorts

The picture is exactly what they look like. They retain that rugged look. They are extremely light weight it feels like your next to naked. You pay a lot but you get what you payed for and this is it.

Love em!

Got these shorts along with the long pant as well.. both are excellent Arc'teryx make great product... pricey but well worth it... I don't mind paying for quality... light weight and packs well!

They're no Palisades, but they're nice

I bought a pair of these a couple of years after buying my first pair of Arcteryx Palisade shorts because I loved my Palisade shorts and these were less expensive. I like my Ramparts...but I LOVE my Palisades. Just dropped another hundy on another pair of Palisades. I'd buy another pair of Ramparts if I found them on sale or whatever. But the Palisade short is the only short I'd give 5 stars and drop full retail on.

Like a glove...for your bottom.

Great fitting shorts...the nylon lycra combo is outstanding. Best pair of active shorts I've ever worn. But whoa...are they pricey. Great example of "get what you pay for" I suppose.

Best shorts I've ever owned

I got three of these, two in Coffee Bean and one in Deep Dusk. These are just amazing. I use them mostly for bouldering. They're super light and thin, but not as thin as to feel fragile. They have just the right amount of stretch. They're also not too baggy. I love the clean lines of the pockets. Moreover, the material dries really fast.

FYI, I also have three of the Rampart pants as well, which I use for hiking. Those are the best hiking pants I've ever had so overall I'm loving Arc'teryx's Ramparts products.

The material can give a little bit of "swish" sound, but nothing that has ever bothered me.

Bombproof Shorts

These are my favorite shorts to date. They are highly resistant to abrasion and dry extremely quickly. I primarily use them for canyoneering and hiking at the moment and I hope to use them for climbing soon. The shorts provide full range of motion and dry very quickly. I am 6'0" and they hit just above my knees when dry. I recently took these short canyoneering in southern Utah and the performance was outstanding: they dried quickly, they were comfortable and they showed no signs of wear despite being rubbed against sandstone for three straight days. One word to the wise: because these shorts are so tough they are a bit scratchy. I went "commando" for a few days and was mildly chafed in certain key areas. Nothing serious at all, but you may want to invest in some synthetic undies to pair with these guys.

Pretty Great

I would have easily given these shorts a shinning 5 star review except for one issue. This issue being that every time i get into my car my knife, wallet, keys and cell phone sneakily slide out of my pockets and get lost in my seat. Other than that these shorts are wicked nice, Super light, very breathable, fast drying, comfy, built like a bomb shelter, and they look nice to boot.

All in all, if you dont mind checkin your pockets for your valuables every few minutes, grab em for sure!

Edit: Im not sure if I just didnt notice at first, or if I lost weight or what, but these shorts developed a strange puff of fabric on the rear that just likes odd (when not worn at belly button height), it doesnt affect anything but the aesthetics, however it caused me to not wear these, which isnt anything to do with the superb quality,i think it just has to do with where i like to wear my shorts, and all the way up past my belly button is not it.

sizing:
Im 6' 165-70 athletic build, I normally wear a 32-33 but seeing as arc'teryx gear seems to run a little snug i went with 34s and they fit perfectly, and come just past my knee.

Have performed admirably: Hiking, climbing, and Hanging out.

Best shorts I've ever owned, by far

This is only my second five-star review of an outdoor product ever (the first was my Chaco Z1 sandals) -- and they truly deserve it. The material looks like a nice lightweight cotton, nothing shiny or embarrassing, but it stretches like spandex when you move. The pockets rock -- simple flaps keep everything safe in the thigh and rear pockets without the need for velcro or buttons. They're very tough and fit beautifully without being baggy and sloppy. The length is a normal dude length -- just to the knee. I use them as my swim shorts and they dry in minutes. And, when I chow down, I can move the snap over and just use the second snap for a little extra room. The photo makes it look like they'll fit like mom shorts, but they don't -- it's a sporty/cool dude look. Perfect shorts!

Responded on

Absolutely agree! They are my favorite hiking shorts, well actually, just favorite shorts in general. I just hiked 45 miles in them through the Rae Lakes Loop Trail in Kings Canyon Nat Park, they were super comfy, dried fast, and just felt great. The long pants version are equally as nice, can't go wrong with these!

Crotch

The crotch rides way too high. Extremely uncomfortable. Had to return
