    Good beanie

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This is a light weight beanie that is perfect for under my bike helmet, long enough to cover my ears and it seems to give a loud whoooosh sound as I cycle so I think I am flying....very sweet....

    Arteryx Beanie that FITS!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

If you have a bigger head and have tried on the Torques or other beanies from Arteryx that claim one size fits all.(they barely cover up half of your ears if you have a larger head) the L/XL Phase fits me great and snug enough. Only reviewing 4/5 stars because this is made out of relatively basic material for a high cost.

    Warm & versatile

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: L/XL

I love these hats and own several for winter and cold weather running and hiking. Also great under a ski helmet. The fabric is warm, and the cut is big enough to go over my ears. My wife loves hers as well (also a winter runner). An instant classic. The larger cut is pretty big (larger than I'd first expected) and is cut large enough to fit my head without needing to stretch much, which makes it more comfortable since it's not compressed against my hair like some similar hats do.

Great for a ski helmet liner!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I just bought this to use with my ski helmet, because the helmet has open vents. It's pretty thin so my snug-fitting helmet can easily fit over it, and it seems to be plenty warm enough. I really like that it's big enough to fit over my ears!

    Big SKULL

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

The L/XL is a massive beanie for a huge noggin. I picked it up with a one size fits all hat from Arc'teryx and this one is super huge, the other is a bit tight. Not sure what their sizing system is. It's an excellent skull cap though for fitting under a helmet. The radius is good for my head. So the L/XL is pretty accurate there. But the depth of the beanie is tremendous. I think it was designed for a conehead or for someone with a mop of hair they need to keep under control.

Still works. I love it. It's stretch fabric allows you to grab and tug it to adjust without consequences - it'll stay mostly in place.

    Big SKULL

Like the review. Thanks. You might adjust the length of your poles so that the hand grips and your forearms are at a 90 degree angle to your upper arm. Maybe adjust your shoulder straps too. Then again, maybe it's your style. High crags and blue skies forever man! Trek on!

Poles do look low. I don't see any effect of turf in the photo and memory doesn't serve. Might be that I was just cresting a steep climb and had adjusted them for the up (instead of using those nice foam secondaries? Unsure.

The pack goes through a LOT of adjustments as teh day goes on. I seldom keep it in the same place for long. But that does look like it's hanging something fierce!

    Phase me, bro

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a Phase fan. I love the shirts so I got a Phase AR Hoody when they came out. Fantastic! Then I had to try the beanie. A couple of days after getting it I took it out for a little spin (26.2 miles). It was great. Large enough to cover the ears. Great for cool and cold weather aerobic activities because it provides warmth but you don't overheat easily. The construction is interesting. The stitching and four darts form a U-shape open at the forehead. Not sure exactly what that is designed to accomplish. Even with it pulled snug the darts tend to form little points, but I don't have any hair to fill it out, and it's certainly not as goofy looking as the 6-dart Rho LTW construction. I'm square in the Medium size range and bought a S/M; it seems slightly tight at times, but having it any looser might be a mistake. Slight qualms about the looks and sizing aside, it's a superb beanie because it's so light, is stashable anywhere, and, most of all, provides good temperature regulation.
