Baggy, but good shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I bought the "Olive" version for long international flights and to use as a semi-professional shirt when doing field work in Bangladesh. At 5'10 165 lbs with an athletic build the "small" size is quite baggy on me, I was positively swimming in it. I would not call this a slim cut at all. It was very baggy in the sleeves and the torso, and moderately baggy in the chest. To be fair, I like my shirts quite slim (the "small" size of Banana Republic's "tailored slim fit" line fits me perfectly for comparison). The torso length is great for me (I'd say I have an average length torso).

However I really like the quality, fabric and design of the shirt. I've tried many travel shirts and most seem too baggy or have had weird designs that render them unusable in any semblance of a professional setting. So I had this tailored locally and now it fits mostly great. The sleeves are still too long, but it's not too noticeable. The armpits still have plenty of room and I have plenty of movement after tailoring.

If the fit was truly "slim" I would most definitely give this a 5-start rating.

Also - the chest pocket is NOT zippered (which is great - I don't like zippered chest pockets).

Keep it secret, keep it safe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

There's nothing like peeing next to a guy in a matching outfit. Unfortunately, for some of us that's almost inevitable since it seems every dude at Backcountry HQ has caught onto how stylish, versatile, and comfortable this shirt is. So if you're on the team and thinking of joining the party, BACK OFF-- THIS TURF IS CLAIMED!!! If you spend your days elsewhere, have at it (you won't be disappointed) but take my advice, and don't tell anyone where you bought it.

Perfect fit and stylish

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This is a quality button-down shirt, fits nicely (not too slim and not too boxy). I'm 6'2 195 lbs and the Large fits well. Material is great for summer wear as it is light and smooth as advertised. I got the Mesa Copper and it looks great with a pair of jeans.

favorite button up to date

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

So, for years, I've generally been unhappy with button-up shirts. Usually they're cut to wide through the entire shirt, or when they get skinnier they're too tight in shoulders. Due to never finding the right fit, I've been on a tee, raglan tee, or sweater kick to achieve the fit and look I'd like.

The comment about fitting V-shaped individuals is spot on. I'm overly excited with how this shirt in a size small fits nice and slim through my mid section, but has plenty room/articulation in the arms. I've never been this satisfied with a button down and I think I've found my brand with Arc'teryx.

A little background info is I'm 5'6'', 155lbs with a 38" chest, so you can can get a bit of the proportions.

Aside from the fit, the material is quite nice and should work great out hiking or cruising the town with friends.

Well made, soft fabric, comfortable fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Just got this Arc'teryx button down shirt. Love it. The material is really soft but feels durable. Haven't washed it yet but I'd guess that this will not wrinkle. An althletic fit, comfortable on my shoulders (lots of contemporary cut shirts are tight in the arm pits and I feel like I'm going to bust a seam if I bend over and stretch in an airplane - not the case with this arc'teryx button down).

Great Fitting Shirt

Fits and looks great. I picked up the Bonsai (green) and will probably be picking up the bluestone. Quality shirt.
