I'm on the east coast, in Northern VA, and until I can change this unfortunate situation, I need to wear clothes that are comfortable in this humid and muggy climate. I no longer wear cotton, and the Arteryx Palisade Shorts are just perfect. They fit well and are true to size, are comfortable in any climate, dry fast, are durable and color fast, and the khaki colored pairs I bought during 2011 and 2012 are now joined by two pairs in graphite for 2013. These are my go-to shorts now.

These are comfortable, breathable and quick drying. They have also held up to significant abuse from Rock Climbing. They're a little pricey, but worth it.

yes, expensive. But the best shorts I have ever owned. I purchased 4 pairs. I have come to really like shorts with no pockets in the rear.

I am somewhat ashamed to admit how deeply in love with these shorts I have fallen. It chagrins me to have paid significantly more for a pair of shorts than for my first car. I own an older version of the same item -- I like these a lot, but Arc'teryx has greatly improved the pockets on the later ones.

Pros: Comfortable, durable (I have had the old ones for a couple years of 2.5-season use and the material has held up), super-quick drying, great zipper pockets to defy both pickpockets and the cruel forces of gravity.
Cons: Price

Best shorts EVER. I crack up my wife, calling them "The One Shorts". They weigh nothing, dry instantly and are super comfy with the soft inner waist. Looks like they got rid of the "little pocket" this year. I liked it - it was dedicated to carrying a micro leatherman. Crazy expensive and crazy worth it.

I HATE that they got rid of that pocket!!!!!. I have two pair and won't wear anything else

Very fitted cut combined with light, stretchy fabric and excellent construction result in amazing shorts. Go anywhere, do anything shorts; I've scraped down rocks, swam, hiked, jogged in them - better than anything else I can recall, and yet they are stylish enough to dress up for casual evening wear.

Compared to the Rampart shorts, these are a little slimmer and shorter, hitting right above my knee.

These are nylon, so they do make a faint swishing noise when I walk. Not noticeable unless you're in a really quiet place.

I usually hang my keys from a carabiner attached to a belt loop but since these have an integrated belt, there are no loops. A minor complaint, otherwise these are my favorite shorts ever.
