Unforeseen circumstances can lead to a busted patella for ice climbers and telemark skiers. Protect your knees against ice, rocks, logs, and whatever else hides under the snow on the mountain with the Arc’teryx Kneecaps. The EV50 foam contours and cushions, while the hardened knee cup and upper tibia panel take the brute of the force when (not if) impact occurs.

Bottom Line: Be able to walk home; wear the Arc’teryx Kneecaps.

i've had the same pair forever now and

mine have taken some pretty hard knocks over the years, but they're still good as new. I hardly notice them once I get going, and they are easy to adjust even with bulky mittens on (albeit my mittens are the kind with the finger dividers on the inside-which, in my opinion, does slightly improve dexterity).

My dad has replaced his kneepads twice since he got me these, but he definitely skis way more frequently than i do. Still, I give these a rounded-up rating of 4.5 stars (the straps definitely wouldn't be comfortable right up against the skin, and though they never move around on me, they also don't quite feel like they're going to stay put at first, which could be a little unnerving if you're obsessive about fit) and two thumbs up!

A grain of salt: these are the only kneepads I've ever had. Yeah, I've never had or wanted to replace them, but I also don't have anything to compare them with.

Essential Tele Gear

By:

Kneepads are a crucial part of telemark equipment, and these are a huge upgrade over the old Rollerblade kneepads I used to wear. They are very light and flexible, but give solid protection. The infinitely adjustable straps let you get just the right fit. They stay put without feeling restrictive or getting in the way of your knee flex. Highly recommended.

Plastic crack

By:
January 9, 2008

I like the function and the form of these pads, but they crack in the plastic between the lower and the upper part. I've had 3 pairs of these (still have 2) and this has happen to all six of them... Once they're cracked the plastic edges rubs on the GORE-TEX in the ski pants from the inside.

But they are very comfortable and fits great, so I'm keeping mine and even getting another pair... One may argue that they are to expensive to be replaced every season...

Protect those knees!

By:

These pads saved my knees when I was learning to snowboard and telemarking.... You put them on under your pants and nobody can tell you're wearing them. I don't even notice that I am wearing them, they are so light and comfortable. I don't want to take any chances with my knees. I STRONGLY recommend them for any beginner snowboarder or avid tele skier.
