Whether you're carefully working your way across a glacier or putting in time on belay at the base of the ice fall, the Kappa's Coreloft insulation teams up with new, advanced Windstopper fabrics to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable during long periods of low-intensity activities in the cold.

  • N70P Windstopper fabric is reinforced with highly durable N80p-X Windstopper fabric at the seat and knees to boost abrasion resistance and performance
  • Winstopper membrane blocks penetrating wind without compromising breathability, while DWR finish sheds light precipitation
  • A 140g helping of lightweight, compressible Coreloft insulation keeps you warm when you're taking your turn on belay
  • Expedition fit allows plenty of room for layers and full range of motion
  • Articulated knees allow for a more ergonomic fit
  • Full-length zippers along sides allow venting and easy on-off
  • Adjustable pant cuff drawcord helps seal out the elements

Middle of AK

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I loved these pants, I normally would wear a small but I ended up getting a medium and it was the way to go for me. I would wear them over all my other layers while I was "chilling" waiting for food and water to cook. I'm 5'7" 133lbs 30in waist. The extra length kept my feet warmer in my sleeping bag and the bagginess kept me moving freely when I had all my other layers on.

Great "heavy" ski pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Just got these pants before I went out west to ski. Put them to the test in Utah. Two of the four days had snow. These Kappa pants were true to size; not too baggy or puffy; and warm. Too warm for spring skiing days or winter days above 40. Very comfortable. Love the full length zipper on each leg. The fly is appreciated. Wish they had at least one pocket but other than that, a really good pair of warm but light weight ski pants. As always, BC got them to me quickly.

Arc'teryx Kappa insulated pant

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The pants really do fit well over everything.
But the rather puffy boxy look may not bee as stylish on its own - though the high warmth trumps style. :P
No pockets on this pant , but possible pockets on the underlying pants are easily accessed via the side zippers.

Wide cuffs go nicely over telemark plastic boots (Scarpa T2x ).
There is an elastic cord tightener at the cuff that doesn't work quite so well - velcro on outside would have been better.
But this won't matter much when worn over ski boots.
The lining is very slick durable feeling ripstop fabric.
The texture and color of the main fabric is pleasantly non-shiny and quiet.

High quality smooth running zippers.
Suprisingly small packing - so this pant will go on my day long backcountry ski tours - along with a puffy jacket for breaks and bivy.
Might also be an option as a warm layer under some shell pants.

Is the warmest synthetic puffy pant
i could find.
