The Arc'teryx Gamut Pant is designed to protect you from trailside abrasions and look cool enough to wear to a concert. Designed for incredible durability, the Gamut is the pinnacle of pant science. The Gamut's knee articulation moves naturally for kicking a hackey-sack like a pro or busting out bouldering moves. Two zippered rear security pockets allow you to store your wallet without losing your goods. A relaxed fit adds to your personal freedom, while the gusseted crotch lets you do the splits on the dance floor. Getting up from the splits, though, is your problem, not the Gamut's. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: Run the Gamut from comfort and mobility to toughness and durability.
These pants work well for rock climbing or bouldering. They are thick and tough making them relatively abrasion free. As new, I found them a bit stiff due to the fabric being thick, but after awhile they became more loose. The chamois for the inner lining at the waist is a plus. FYI: Pants I got were made in China.
These pants are amazing. They burly beyond compare (triple stitching in places, thick, resilient, stiff canvas), and yet have a chamois waste lining and a wonderfully comfortable feel and fit. I wear them for everyday comfort, but I like best to put them to use as work pants: they are exceptionally good for working theatrical tech - loading weight, moving equipment; they don't snag and will stand up to any sort of abrasion or wear you throw at them.
Nice, roomy pockets are a plus too. Fantastics pants. I'm going to get a few more pairs.
Im also another disappointed customer of this product. The sizing seems completely off I noticed that Arc'teryx moved many product lines to Chinese factory, and this pair is one of them. You pay for the logo, not for the innovation or quality. The pants shrink about one inch around the waist and inseam

these are some of the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. The waist band lining, fabric, and knee articulation are all very cool. They have a wide leg cut, so if you don't like wide legs, get the Delegate pants instead which are also great if you like a narrow fitted pant.
The Gamut pants are Carefully Tailored, Light Weight cotton canvas, with loads of special features. Consider them a replacement for poorly designed and bad fitting Chinos or Dockers. They will not out perform a pair of Carhartt's, but their looks and Top Shelf design will put your other pants to shame...
Quality is mediocre, which is really disappointing. I have lots of Arcteryx technical gear that I really love, but the Gamut pant is more like a department store house brand product.
The Arcteryx gamut is the best pant made. The material is very durable and soft, it does not feel too stiff or boardy, and the craftsmanship is excellent. The little details such as the waist button and the fleece lining around the waistline make it nice. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch make the pants extremely comfortable and easy to be active in without any binding. I use these for bouldering frequently. The size seems a touch big, but I still size them how I normally would. Overall, an excellent pant. I have two.
I was worried about the quality of Chinese made Arc'teryx clothing, but I can hardly tell the difference. These pants are the perfect everyday pants. I typically wear 33-34 and the 32 fits me perfect. Nitpicks? While the front pockets are roomy, I wish the openings were a bit larger. This might detract from the streamlined design though. Also, maybe some cargo pockets a la the Bravo pants. I like them so much I'm going to buy them in Bamboo too.
These are flat out the best pants for work/play that I own. My Levi's have been left behind. These pants are comfortable, roomy, and wear very well. The zipper pockets and huge front pockets are another major plus
These pants are comfortable. They are going to be a bit roomy everywhere so be prepared. They're loose-fitting, but still sized as normal for me. They're designed to allow for lots of flex and range which is nice when climbing or bushwacking for the trail. Ideal Kentucky Red River Gorge Pant. The're a heavier and more durable pant than other comparable pants and twice as comfortable. Though they're a bit pricey.
