The Arc’teryx Women’s Gamma LT Softshell Pants stand up to tough seasons of ice climbing, high-altitude hikes, backpacking, and guiding—and a lady-friendly fit, comfy stretch, and articulated knees make ‘em feel great the whole time. When Arc’T calls these pantalones ultralight, they’re not joking. Weighing in at just a few hundred grams, these suckers stretch, breathe, and defend you from the elements at very little weight cost. A gusseted crotch lets you mantle the top of an ice pitch, laminated cuffs with cord closures won’t snag on snowshoes or crampons, and thigh pockets with laminated zippers hold your peanut butter cookies.
Bottom Line: Pants that deflect wind, shed snow, and breathe—in a featherlight package.
This mountaineer lady loves the feel of the nylon, spandex, and fortius for trekking, glasading, or simply meandering up the mountain. Arc'teryx Pants gave me more dexterity while stretching, doing high knees, jumps, and lunges.
I ordered a size 10 and the inseam is a 32. I am 5'8, 145 lbs, and usually wear a size 6 or 8 long pants. The 10 sits on my true waist and is fitted in my butt and upper thighs. Cute pants, but they aren't long enough when I have cross country ski boots on (about 1 1/2 in. above the floor). My husband has the men's size medium which are also a 32 inseam, but because of the lower crotch, they are longer. I'm going to return these for a men's small.

I recently purchased this pair of softshell pants for a 1,000-mile-long thru-hike across the Alps from Italy to Monaco this summer. I have been recreating in the Wasatch in advance of my Alps adventure, and I continue to be impressed by the quality of construction (I wouldn't expect anything less from Arc'teryx) and the tapered female fit. Based on previous experience, softshell pants tend to be bulky and uncomfortable in action. The pants kept me toasty warm a few days ago when I woke up to howling winds at 12:30 a.m. in a parking lot on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to begin a 32-mile, 12-hour-long hiking adventure. I would definitely recommend sizing up a bit so that you can wear something like thermal underwear for added warmth. I am 5'9", 150 pounds, and the size large fits like a perfect glove with tights underneath.
The Arc'teryx Gamma LT is a lightweight softshell, with no fleece laminated inside. This is the main difference with the Gamma MX-the fleece laminated inside. The fit in the legs is basically the same, but the MX has wider hems and reinforcements for ski or climbing boots. The Gamma LT has slightly narrower hems and is designed to work well with hiking boots or shoes.
I run between an 8 and 10 in most clothes, but find that medium Arc'teryx pants are form fitting without being uncomfortably tight. These pants feel great agains my skin and move well. I thought about skiing in them, but only on a warm day because they are so thin. But they will be great for hiking and alpine climbing. Always a great product from Arc'teryx.
I just wore these pants on a long trip through Asia and Bhutan, and they were perfect--good fit, light weight, water repellent, and they cleaned up with just a wet wipe at the end of the day. I love the 4 zippered pockets in front, and that the waist didn't stretch out as many soft shell pants do at the end of the trip. They were a bit too light for high altitude bad weather on their own, but with long underwear, they provided better protection. I wear a 4-6, and the Small fitted me perfectly. The only change I would make is in the ankle cuffing--when they are drawn up tight, the cords are easy to step on and trip. They need a little velcro attachment or something to keep them out of the way.
I ordered the XS Tall per the sizing chart. The overall fit was excellent but the length per the chart should be 32 it wasn't. Length is 35. Overall quality of pant is nice. Fit is fitted not baggy. If they had an XS/R I would have exchanged for that size but alias these had to go back.
