The Arc'teryx Women's Fission LT Hoody uses 200g of PrimaLoft Sport insulation inside a windproof, water-resistant WindStopper shell for amazing performance in the mountains. The Fission LT Hoody's combination of insulation and highly breathable shell fabric makes it an ideal choice for aerobic activities in absolutely frigid temperatures. Arc'teryx added a helmet-compatible hood to help this jacket succeed on mountaineering and ice climbing trips.

Bottom Line: Breaking trail in subzero temps? No problem.

Keeping Tracey warm

Whenever touring with my wife, priority is to keep her warm, this jacket does that. It feels like a down coat yet is highly breathable and comfortable in the alpine environment. The red is also very bright making her easy to see on our backcountry descents.

If she wants to put layers under it, definitely a large. However, unless it is really cold where you live, you won't really need many layers. Also is she using it for sports or just around town? For sports its good to have more room for movement, but around town not so much. Hopefully, that will help you decide.

Yay warmth!

I got this jacket just in time for a freak arctic blast of air into Seattle. It's been down in the 20s. And I get to walk around all warm and toasty in my new jacket. The hood is great--it's insulated too so it really keeps your bean warm. The jacket isn't very long, similar to my Arcteryx rain coat. Has nice big pockets inside and out.

All the warmth without all the bulk and weight!

I picked this up for my girlfriend as an xmas gift for her. We put it to the test night skiing in single digit temps. At first we weren't sure how much base layering she'd need so we start with a smart wool ls tee and a light weight fleece over top. After a run or two she was too warm with the fleece and opted to go only with the smart wool tee, which then worked perfectly.

I opted for this coat over a shell because I wanted to simplify the base layering she'd need to do with the other option and thought that an insulated coat would get more day to day wear.

As our test proved, you don't need to pile on the layers if you have this coat. Unlike a lot of other jackets, there's no need to start shedding the layers once you take the coat off and head inside.

Highly recommend!
