When it’s 85 degrees at the trailhead, you’ll be glad you wore the silkweight Arc’teryx Ether Crew because it’s made of fast-drying, breathable polyester. It will breathe and wick sweat better than any cotton shirt in your closet, so much that it is also great as a base layer in winter. In the summer when you lose the trail and bushwhack for two hours to find the car, you will emerge with the Ether unscathed thanks to Arc’teryx’s durable Helius fabric. The underarms are gusseted for an easy reach while you climb, and the flat seams feel great even with a forty-pound back on your back.

Bottom Line: Way beyond your average T-shirt.

Quality garment!

This shirt is my favorite piece of active wear. I use it for everything: hiking/backpacking (the seams are off-shoulder!), gym, running, etc. It has an athletic cut like all Arc'Teryx shirts. It does accumulate sweat a bit, but dries so quickly it doesn't matter. Apparently it has UPF qualities too, which I dig.

But the best thing about this shirt (as well as other Arc'Teryx gear) is the quality. For being so thin it's downright unbelievable. I punched a pinhole in this shirt accidentally right in the middle of the belly, and over the course of 9 months it has NOT gotten any bigger. Now that's why I lay down the bread for nice gear. I'll be wearing this thing for 5 more years min.

Does anyone know if this has "anti-stink" qualities?

Does anyone know if this has "anti-stink" qualities? The first generation of technical polyester shirts almost got stinky just by looking at them and thinking about a hike... they've improved but I didn't see any reference to antimicrobial treatment or natural odor resistance in this "HELIUS" material. Any info on how this shirt smells after a long day of hiking would be VERY much appreciated... Martin

The Arc'teryx Ether does have some anti-stink element to it, which, in my experience works just OK. They don't get stinky by looking at them, but I can only wear mine for one day. If I wear it a second day without washing I'm pretty offensive. The good thing is the stink does wash out well, unlike the older versions of synthetics that never let go of odor. One of the qualities about this shirt that I really like is that for a silkweight shirt, it's held up way longer than any others I've owned, and is really comfy to wear.

great shirt

This is a great light weight, silky feeling shirt. It doesnt stretch like the patagonia capilene 1 shirt does. Also, i've used it running on a hot day and it wasnt able to wick aways the sweat quick enough. I prefer the capilene 1 but this is still a great shirt. Runs true to size. 6'2" 210 lbs i went with the xl.
