Epsilon SV Jacket - Men's

The Arc'teryx Epsilon SV Jacket is an ultra-breathable softshell, emphasizing moisture management and air-flow. A weather-resistant polyester shell is bonded to the fuzzy interior to act as the ultimate midlayer or warmer-weather outer-layer in high-output situations. The Epsilon SV is cut with a waist length and athletic fit that works with other layers while climbing, touring, or running errands. A fully structured hood holds heat around your head and moves with you as you spot your next line. Functionally placed hand pockets won't interfere with a climbing harness. Stretch wrist-gussets cooperate with gloves and seal your arms from the cold and damp. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: The Epsilon SV is a self-assured softshell for skeptical weather.

Fav jacket!!!

This is my favorite jacket i am 6 2 and 225 pounds and a XL fits me nicely. This jacket is so comfortable and i love just about everything about it. Only complaint is that the hood is made for a helmet and has no adjustments other then around the front so it makes it hard to wear if you dont have a helmet or billed hat on. Other than that no complaints I have one right now and if the ever get back in stock or i see them on the Steep I will get a second one for sure!

I've been really interested in purchasing the Epsilon sv

I've been really interested in purchasing the Epsilon sv hoody for a while, especially after seeing tons of great reviews. The only thing I am unsure about is the size to get. I am 5'10" 165lbs. I am concerned that a small will be too tight and after looking at the size descriptions, the medium would be too big. I have about a 36-37" chest (tight fit) and a 31-32" sleeve length. can anyone help

I'm 5'9" and 135 and the small is just right. You'll definitely want a medium.I'm 5'11' 190 and the XL is way too big. I needed a L but they were out.

Awesome Jacket

By:

This is a great Jacket. Lighter weight than other soft shells I've owned. Very breathable. The hood is a tad tight with a helmet, however I do also have a giant head. I'm 6'2" 195lbs and the large fits great. I went with the mountain safety orange (because that was all that was avail. in my size) which I cringed at at first, but now I like it. I stick out in summit shots just fine!

great softshell for the value!

This jacket is a great lightweight softshell. It fits well, it’s water resistant, (even in a waterfall) and it’s light enough it feel like PJs with a hood.

Better than other softshells of the same weight

This is a very nice and stylish jacket. I have tried and own an REI and North Face Jacket of the same weight and they are not the same quality and warmth. Wearing just this jacket over a shirt should keep you all right in drizzle down to 35F. Wearing a light fleece underneath will keep you comfy down to 15F. This jacket will never leave you toasty.

Cons: cuffs just a tiny bit too tight.
Can't layer thick fleeces underneath, even in one size higher. (It's not made for that, wearing it with a tight fitting fleece feels REALLY nice).
Made in China but it does not show in the construction. Recommended.

Arc'teryx Epsion Jacket - Great jacket

By:
March 20, 2006

I tried it today for an trip up at a 1200meter above sea level mountain here in Norway with randonee ski equipment. It snowed wet snow in the beginning, windy and snowing at the top. I couldn’t feel the cold wind and I was dry and warm. And the sweat I broke dried in a few minutes. Best jacket I ever had on me in the mountains and so light weight and cool looking.

Epsilon SV Jacket

By:
February 21, 2007

This jacket was awesome! At first, I was a bit hesitant to buy it because it seemed like a lower-quality jacket than most Arc'teryx pieces. It is anything but that. I spent five days skiing in Breck, Colorado, three of which the temperature was below zero, and the wind was blowing at 40-50 mph up top. But this jacket (and a couple of extra layers)kept me warm, blocked the wind very well, and repelled water wonderfully. One minor complaint would be that the cuffs are elastic, and even if the jacket fits you perfectly, it is difficult to get your hands, especially when gloved, through.

a hood thats not a wind sock

I have had this jacket for a few months now and it gets worn more than my others. It is great for ski touring and rock climbing. The arm cuffs have little tags to aid in holding the cuff while you put your gloves which takes some getting used to them being there. The fit is great I am 5'6 135 and a small is great. Worn with a thick under layer it has provided enough warmth for most of my tours and does a very good job blocking the wind. The hood fits close to your head like a scuba hood which made it comfortable to wear under my rock climbing and ski helmet.
