Arc'teryx made the Women's Epsilon AR Softshell Jacket for fast-paced action in changing mountain weather conditions. It focuses on breathability to keep you cool while breaking trail and still offers plenty of protection against an oncoming snow storm. Arc'teryx gave this softshell a waist-length cut to make it comfortable to wear with a climbing harness. Wear the Epsilon AR Jacket into the mountains on damp mornings or under a waterproof shell in a downpour. Stretch wrist-gussets allow the use of gloves and seal the cold and damp away from your arms. First of all, this jacket is a great mid-weight jacket. It's length is a little shorter than other jackets in the same size...it falls just above my hip, where other jackets fall at the hip (I'm 5'6"). Also, I ordered the "Celestite" color and it is a bit shinier and brighter than pictured on the website. One other minor item is that the pockets are located mid-bodice on the front of the jacket. It's tough to see on the website photos, but they stick out a little bit.
It is not windproof. Pretty wind resistant, but not windproof by any means.

MOST versatile of jackets

I love this jacket, the fit is great for sport as well as casual. It fits just around hip level in front and slightly longer in back(I am 5'7"). It is great as a windbreaker for biking and also I wear it under my heavier softshells for cold weather sports. It washes well and drys QUICKLY. I have 2 because if one is not laundered I do not have to go without..Either should you!
