Arc'teryx Emissary Hooded Pullover Sweater - Men's - 2007 BCS

While its not overly warm, its great to layer under a shell...I use it most for winter camping, its perfect for sleeping in your down bag with the hood up since its so soft. Great for wear around town too! I dry clean mine only Ckostas...

This is made from a very unscratchy merino wool that reminds me of the better 'year round weight' wool suits I used to wear to work (and of the finer ski sweaters I would treat myself to for that matter). There is a certain feel to fine wool that this exhibits - and it also has a much better construction and drape than the average hooded garment. In terms of weight it is a bit on the lighter side (maybe a 'light medium'?) that is absolutely perfect when there's a bit of a chill but a 200 weight fleece is too much.

Speaking of which, it is very nice to have an alternative to fleece, and I guess this really is a good replacement for a 100 weight fleece.

I pretty much dig all arcteryx but this hoody rocks. Warm for how light it is ever so slightly ichy & It is also spendy like all there gear they're so proud of. Hand washed it and looks great though I'm being very carefull not to trash it.

The wool hoodie is great for light insulation, as a mid-layer, or alone on non-windy days. I use it as one of my layers during very cold ski day so I can keep my neck and ears warm by fitting the hood under my helmet. The small pocket inside the larger one is a joke: its seams started pulling away from the wool within its second wear. For the price of the piece, I expect greater longevity and something a little warmer.

Anyone wash this garment yet? Any shrinkage?
