Made for climbers who don't care about the cold.
It's a dry February and you have the itch to send some mountains. It's a good thing you have the Arc'teryx Men's Dually Belay Insulated Parka to warm your bones because, even though it's dry out there, it's still freakin' freezing. This parka utilizes two layers of ThermaTek insulation for your toasty core warmth, and Arc'teryx immersed the insulation in a DWR coating to help you stay dry in case an unexpected storm appears out of nowhere.Arc'teryx also integrated a full-separating, two-way front zip to accommodate harness and rope as you belay your buddy.
An expedition fit leaves room for layering in frigid temperatures, but with a slimmer fit in the chest and shoulders. The StormHood slides over your helmet with ease, and you can rotate your head without losing the vision you need on the wall. If it gets warm on your route, you can stuff this compressible jacket in its stuff sack and clip it to your harness in case you get cold again. Stretch-knit cuffs are soft against your wrists and seal out that nasty cold front, and a drawcord at the drop-tail hem keeps in all that wonderful warmth even when you bend over to put your shoes on.

The King Of Arc'teyx !!!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
Let me be the first to say, I Purchased this jacket to top off my collection of Arc'teryx .. and I'm glad I did. This is a very light and very warm jacket to have. It packs away small until you need it and BAM it layers right over what you have on to keep warm until your on the move again. Especially when the sun goes down. It does have hood adjustments in the back and in front of the hood and an adjustment at the bottom of the jacket. Don't order a larger size than you need. It fits well even if you don't have any layers under it. I am glad I got mine, cause once there gone, it's to late to get one!
Arc'teryx Dually Belay Insulated Parka
I normally wear Medium in Arc'Teryx gear, would a medium for this work as well since it's Expedition Fit, or would I need to bump up to Large? I would layer it on top of a base layer (t-shirt or Capilene/SmartWool), Delta LT jacket (M), Atom LT hoody (M) (+ Alpha FL (M) if a shell is needed). Thanks!
The Expedition cut on this bad boy will allow you to wear it over all your other layers without a problem. I'd stick with a medium.
What size would provide the same fit if I normally wear a 42R with a baselayer and shirt?
It really depends on the fabric weight of the base layers you'll be using with the jacket. If you're looking for the same fit as a 42R provides, I would recommend going with a large. If you would prefer a fit that you can layer without losing any range of motion, I would suggest x-large.
What range of temperatures would this be good in assuming I'm climbing on and off?
I'd have to disagree with James' comment above. The Dually has two layers of 92 g/m² of ThermaTek insulation; equalling approximately 184 g/m² of insulation. Hence, the difference in names between the "Solo" and the "Dually" Jackets.
There have been many reports of climbers using this on Denali as their main puffy/belay jacket with no problems at all. There are plenty of trip reports from alpine climbers who use this piece and not pulling this guy out of their packs unless it's 10ºF or below.
That being said, for extreme cold weather, you would want to layer a down sweater or something along that line beneath the Dually.
Hi! Is the large size of this product...
Is the large size of this product bigger than the large size of the atom SV hoody?
It's like a giant Atom SV Hoodie with plenty of room to layer. If your a large order large, don't go to big!
I'm typically a large and I think the medium fits better. It really all depends on what you're using it for. I don't use it to layer OVER as much as I do UNDER my shell. I'm in northern MN and agree with Chris that this is a great "very cold" jacket. ThermaTek is amazing, lightweight, and it is made like a sheet so there are no seams to let a draft through. Fantastic coat!
Hi! I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on...
Hi! I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on holiday for one week( lives in Eurpoe) and i wonder how many dayes it takes from you order till you recived the order?
We typically get most of our orders shipped out our doors within 24 hours from the time it is placed (order placed on the weekend ship on Monday). So it really depends on the shipping method that you choose. We can ship UPS next day delivery, so theoretically if you order a jacket by Monday morning we can get it to you on Tuesday.
