After buying the first of these,I went back and got another two for me and my wife. They fit well, not too thick and no itch. Warm enough for most of the winter and keep their stretch - even now after three years of use. Big thumbs up for Arc'teryx on this product.
Does it get to the ears? Itchy?

It easily gets to the tops of your ear. It will not completely cover the entire ear (more than likely your lobes will be out). how much coverage typically depends of head shape/how much hair and length of your ears.
It is not itchy at all. super soft and comfy material.
Fits Good, No Itch

It fits good (I wear a M in GIRO helmets if that helps). Looks nice, and I wore it for about 8 hours right outta the packaging and it was not uncomfortable at all. Thin enough that if I loose up my helmet I could wear it under. Came down over most of my ears. Wayyy better fit and stretch than a Spyder beenie I had gotten for free (go figure why it was free) May be a little lighter weight so FYI.
Dropped the star ratings because the bottom of my ears got too cold riding home. Wish the hat fit just a little bit lower...
okay

a little short for the ears and not a lot of stretch makes it a little weird... but it's fairy comfy and warm.
Another odd sized Arcteryx beanie

I bought this after returning a woolie toque which was way too big and looked like a brimless tophat. This one looks like a slightly oversized yarmulke. Just who are these things made for? Most people noted this in their review but some people thought it fits right or is too big!!? Well my head is not big, its actually probably smaller than average so anyone who thinks this fits must have a REALLY small head. If you want more quantitative measurements my head is 22" round the forehead, I wear a 7 1/8 sized baseball cap, so if your head is similar or larger, this thing is not going to fit you.
Awesome Surprise

I have to admit I bought this beanie to "fill in" an order for the free shipping....However it has become my go to head covering for everyday wear. I am hair challenged so I ALWAYS have something handy ! Not great when the temp is near 0 or when the wind is howling. However, I call this beanie "hair normalizing" Works just like hair...when I had it !!!!! Plan to buy another color for a little variety !!!!
If you are after noggin warmer I think you should try this ...you will be rewarded with a pleasant surprise...... If you need your ears covered completely.... this is not the beanie for you.... but the lack of extra bulk makes it more comfortable..... when all out warmth is not your quest.
I am always getting positive comments about my "cool" beanie..... Bonus !

I really wanted to like this beanie, but even as an under-helmet one it didn't work out for me. The thing doesn't come down over my ears, has very minimal stretch to it, and is too tight for my head. And I mean too TIGHT. It actually started to hurt a bit after just a couple minutes, and I don't really have a huge head. The fabric is really nice, and the hat itself looked alright, but I just couldn't use it.
small noggin

Loved the beanie on the website...not so much on me. If your head's a bit on the smaller side, I would say stay away from this one. I didn't come close to filling it out so it just looked funny and bunchy on top.

Won this as a festival door prize, so I can't complain about the price. Fit is very shallow and tends to ride up on your head. I find myself going for my cheap acrylic cheapo beanie before this thing. If you are willing to drop this much change on a beanie, pick up some nice wool handmade job!
tough light beanie

This is a great light weight hat. It keeps my head warm even when it gets snow matted to it from a boarding crash. But it leaves the ears a bit uncovered. Over all a great beanie though
Nice

Light, Warm, compact, soft. I give it 4 stars, the design could be a bit cooler.

I like this hat okay. But it's a shallow headed-thing and the band takes some work to get stretched out without busting stitches. Ear coverage is pretty much limited to the tops only and if the wind howls I suspect I will too. All a very heavy price to pay for cool.
Works well.

I got one in orange and it is bright enough that I can get away with it for hunting. It does not completely cover my ears but I bought it knowing that. If you want a full coverage beanie this is not it however I wear mine when I am out being active and still want to be able to hear, which makes it great for hunting. This is also my go to beanie when camping and I want to keep my head warm at night while sleeping. It is also high enough that I can tuck it behind my ears without looking ridiculous. Great product! Also, i do not have a large head I think I am a 7 1/8.
Too big

The color is awesome but this beanie doesn't fit well, it's too big and deep, certainly not a one-size-fit-all.
good fit, nice color!

Bought one for my girlfriend. It fits her just fine an also looks great on her! Also bought a Bird Head beanie for myself, which is a bit bigger compared tot the Covert.
Great beanie.

I found this Arc'teryx covert beanie to be perfectly warm without squishing my head or my hair. If you have a larger head, your ears may get cold.
It also remains quite dry and warm on storm days. No complaints.
Weird fit and color

I bought the basmati color expecting this hat to be a cream color with a tan band. The hat was a little big. This works great for a guy but not so good for a girl who wants the hat to be form-fitting, keeps the cold air out. The color: the color was a nice cream but darker than I expected and the band was almost a gray. Okay, so I'm picky, but the picture is a little misleading.
I agree with Chicago guy

Either my head is odd shaped or this beanie is, I'll lose my ears if it's really cold
