Covert Beanie w/ Pocket

The Arc'teryx Covert Beanie keeps your dome warm in the winter and includes a small zippered stash pocket to stash whatever needs stashing. Get out of your car at the trailhead, lace up your running shoes, zip your key in the Covert Beanie's pocket, and hit the snow-covered trails.

Bottom Line: You may never know why your favorite running shorts don't have a pocket, but at least your Arc'teryx beanie does.

Stylin' Beanie

By:
April 6, 2010

As with any of the Covert fabric stuff, feels like soft wool to the skin and pretty stylish to boot. I grab this when it is cool outside and want to look good doing it. When it is really cold I reach for my MH Dome Perignon b/c that really gets the job done. This is more fashion than function, but that is what I bought it for honestly, so 3 stars for function, 4 if you are just wanting to look good at the bar/park.

Beanielicous!

I bought this hat to run on the beach all winter. It's freezing and incredibly windy on my stretch of sand. I like to travel streamlined with no pockets or anything else to catch the wind. I stick my key fob in the pocket and go! Even with my key in a deep pocket I worried about it. Ever drop a key in the sand next to the ocean? No worries with this hat. Fits great too. Arc'teryx is usually pricey but the quality is excellent.

Check out the Arc'teryx Bird Head Touque- it's my fave 'cause it's deep! definitely covers the lobes.

solid hat

By:
February 16, 2010

I got this hat because I needed a good insulator for the skully and was quite surprised that although warm-this hat is not tight enough to keep it in place on my head.
I have a different hat from Arc'teryx which was much better-The Bucket Liner.Now that's a great hat!
If I didn't shave my head every day this hat would probably fit much better.

Too small

By:

I wear a size 7 1/4 hat and have very short hair and this beanie doesn't cover my ears. It covers about half my ears. Great idea with the pocket, but needs to be bigger. I will be returning mine.

What's the material? (any wool in it?)

The covert beanie is made of the same polypro as the covert sweaters. No wool in it at all, but it's knit to LOOK like wool.

Hope Your Ears Don't Get Cold

By:
January 16, 2008

This is a very sleek and stylish beanie, but offers no ear protection. I have an average-sized noggin and this thing barely touched the top of my ears. If you are looking for more than looks and comfort, and want something to keep you head warm, this isn't the hat. It's a true "beanie."

My ears are toasty and my hair is dry!

Great for keeping my head warm and hair dry while busing to work. I like the variety of colors for matching with my wardrobe. The fabric is not itchy for my oh so sensitive skin.

Nice hat

Soft and warm, but not so stifling that you burn up on the up-track. The pocket is awesome, but I actually haven't used it for anything yet. Seems like a good place for your spring resort skiing prophylactic stash. ;-)

Good Stuff

By:
May 30, 2009

I bought the pocket version for the versatility, but found it to be somewhat worthless for most items unless you want the item poking you in the head. Like most of their products, this one is very well made and has held up to a full winter season without issue. Very comfortable.

Very comfortable and warm; Sizing is an issue

By:

Arc'teryx = High Tech Quality.

Very comfortable warm and windbreaking ability, but that all goes to hell when you realize your ears are not covered 100%.

The pocket is nice, but mostly irrelevant. This is a great beanie tht needs size adjustment. I bought it despite reviews since it was on SAC for 15 bucks and decided to research it myself.

great for cold runs

By:
January 2, 2010

I really like the beanie. Fits nice and snug. Keeps me warm without overheating. Agree with the other reviewers that it's not deep enough to cover my entire ears, but still love it!

Ear tweak...

By:
February 26, 2008

I've got a small bean and short hair (i.e. shaved)...agree with the others that this hat is a little shy on ear coverage. I do like the pocket to carry my key on a run. Great idea, but needs a small tweak.

Arcteryx Covert Beanie

By:
January 29, 2008

Although I am a huge fan of Arcteryx, I had to return the covert beanie because it would not fit down over my ears. There is also a one-size, which is a little roomie for my small noggin. Just wish they offered a more stretchable beanie, love the zip pocket idea though...

Hat fits and is warm. And it looks good. Haven't put anything in "the pocket" yet, but I'm sure I will find a reason to use it.
