If simplicity is your ideal, then the Arc'teryx Classic Beanie is the winter hat for you. Its classic wool material and simple design calls out to skiers, climbers, and winter hikers who don't want a bunch of fancy, unneeded stuff on their beanie. So grab the Classic Beanie and get yourself to the mountains.
This is the best fitting beanie I have ever owned... when I first put it on I was simply amazed... sounds strange to get such pleasure out of a beanie, but damn! for me, no itchy problems, and the fleece head band lining is great... After a season of use, I did notice some pilling of the face fabric from all the google on/offs... but still showing lots of use ahead! Get one!

I purchased this beanie because it looked cool and I can't really afford anything else Arc'teyrx sells. At first I was totally bothered at how itchy this was but after soaking it in hair conditioner to soften the fibers it actually isn't that bad. I already have a few great beanies but I'm a big fan of wool. The problem is that this is old school itchy wool. That's why it's billed as a "classic" wool cap. At any rate it is very warm as all wool usually is and as long as you know what you're getting you won't be disappointed. I gave it 3 stars because as with most of Arc'teryx's stuff it's a tad bit overpriced.
warm and stylish, but itchy an a bit tight for my big norwegian head. this beanie is no better performance-wise than say a military wool watch cap, and trhree times more expensive, so unless the logo and looks are important too you, get something else.
I am giving this product 3 stars because it is "Adequate for the job".
This is the warmest, breathable, highest quality beanie that I can find anywhere and I've tried on a LOT of beanies. The wool is not itchy, I do understand why others think it is itchy but this hat is not old school itchy wool, it's just not the super super light wool either, which is a plus in my book because it is so durable. It does not feel plush and soft, but it is certainly not itchy. It does not bother me at all, but I won't be mistaking it for silk either.
The hat does is extremely well thought out. The top of the hat is not lined with fleece and does and superb job of breathing. The fit is tight so your ears stay close to your head and warm. There is a band of fleece that aids in keeping your ears warm. This hat is comfortable to around 15F, and it will keep your ears from getting frostbite if the temperatures fall lower than that.
This beanie also does not shed fibers onto your head like other beanies do. When you take it off you do not need to worry about what the beanie left behind on your head and in your hair.
I would give this product 5 raving stars and purchase 5 hats to make sure that I always have one even after it has stopped being produced ..... except that I never want to wear the thing. I am not a walking billboard, the logo on this thing is ridiculous. If you buy this hat you will literally have the Arcteryx logo stamped on your forehead. Some people think that's cool, I don't.
Although I would otherwise pay $50 for this beanie due to its construction functionality and quality, I cannot bring myself to wear the thing because I feel like a fool with a gigantic logo stamped on my forehead.
It's no surprise that Arc'teryx is extremely proud of their merch. I bit anyway as I own some of their gear and am satisfied with it. This hat is just an average grade wool hat with their logo stitched on. There is a fleece ear band that helps but too much of the wool cap extends below the fleece band, which results in a very itchy hat. Better look for another hat.
I have a good number of beanies and quite a few of them Arc'teryx. This beanie isn't anything special; standard materials & standard feel. But it is a warm hat, the wool is just a bit itchy for me, I would recommend a different Arc'teryx beanie unless you are partial to wool.
I wore the Classic Beanie while skiing in 20-29 degree temps. The beanie was comfortable and kept me warm. I think that it would be just as warm at lower temps. I like the inner liner band, I think it's fleece. The beanie is also well constructed so it should wear well.
My GO TO hat on a cold, cold day. Others may have found it itchy & scratchy, but I didn't. There are finer wools out there, but with the fleece lining, I didn't itch at all & the combination of wool & fleece make this beanie warm indeed. This beanie is VERY warm & works on the coldest of days due to the double layering of fleece under wool.
This is a quality beanie that's comfortable, warm, and fitted - it will keep your head (as well as your ears!) warm. Great buy if you like a tight beanie.
I bought this beanie in Cocoa Bean to replace my acrylic Arc'Teryx hat that looked exactly the same, but was red (lost it). Just like my old one, it's super warm, covers my ears snuggly (that's hard to find for me), and looks good. It is a bit itchier where the wool creeps out below the inner headband and touches my forehead, but it hasn't pilled like my acrylic one did. My only wish is that I could get this in red!
I bought this for my husband for christmas, and he LOVES it. Its the only one he wears now. It fits perfect and is nice and warm but not too hot. Just right
Well, beanies are beanies. That being said, I like this one pretty well. It has a good fit with no bunching up in weird spots. It is definatly warm. The fleece lining lessens the itch factor, but I've noticed if its pretty warm outside it still itches a little. It's worth the cash.
This Arc'teryx Beanie is all the winter cap you will ever need. Soft, durable and warm. It is hard to beat wool for warmth, breathability and water resistance. Lamb wool or Merino is itch less. There is no comparison with this beanie to your cotton/poly or acrylic beanie. Toby in Alaska
I was worried reading some of the reviews, because I, too, have a bit of a big bubble head, however, the beanie fits perfectly just over the earlobe (although I have short, thin hair). If you have lots of hair it might not come all of the way to your earlobe. I don't find it itchy, and it is super warm wool. Typical Arc'teryx quality.
Like the name says this is a classic beanie, with classic features. Wool. Not synthetic high tech features in this, which I like. It has a medium depth which is good for all but the biggest heads of hair. Not itchy and very warm.
This beanie is the best of all beanies. It is softer, warmer, and better looking than any other beanie Ive ever worn. The best hat purchase Ive ever made. It is rather pricy, but definitely worth the extra money. My first experience using this beanie was on a multi-day winter backpacking snowshoe trip up in the White Mountains. Perfect.
It's a little tight fitting at first but that's probably because it was new. It's warm but not uncomfortably warm. I wish it was a little longer but that's okay. Overall, very good.
