How does this compares to the Atom SV? I know that the Ceva has a little less insulation, but how about wind resistance and durability?

The outer fabric of the Ceva jacket is noticeably shinier (as opposed to the matte finish on the Atom) and more fragile-feeling. That having been said, everything Arc'teryx makes is deceptively bombproof, but if you're planning on trekking all around in the woods, mountains, and beyond, get the Atom.

Concerning insulation - the Atom is more insulated and definitely a better standalone jacket (I wear mine skiing frequently). I would be leery about wearing the Ceva on its own without a shell over it.

The fit on the Ceva is a bit wonky, too (at least for me). Definitely a bit more fashionable than performance fit. I considered buying it, but it didn't really add anything new or exciting to my gear collection.

If you want this jacket for layering - consider too the Atom LT. If you're looking for a good standalone (and realllllly cold weather layering jacket), grab the SV.

Not to make this a hate-fest on the Ceva, I'm just not that thrilled about it. Hopefully this helps!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I got this for my mom since she was complaining that her fleece wasn't keeping her warm enough. The CEVA uses 80g of CoreLoft insulation which delivers SERIOUS warm, minus the bulk.

This jacket is a bit warmer than the Atom LT which only has 60g of CoreLoft. The fabric is nice and silky, and the hood is insulated as well.

The cut is feminine and flattering. My mom was very excited about this one, she just loved the Crocus color, and it is just as pictured in the product pics above.
