Get a snug, warm fit with the Arc'teryx Bird Head Toque. Its super fine merino wool and acrylic blend with a thermal fleece underband should thaw you out nicely. With four-dart construction and the Arc'teryx bird woven on the side, this fitted hat matches your style.
Bottom Line: The Arc'teryx Bird Head Toque proves that 16th-century France is still in.
Have 3 of them and all my other beanies are collecting dust. Fit is superb and they last forever. Great for chilly wet environments like BC. Stays relatively warm even when pretty wet. Just wish the logo was turned down in volume..its a bit loud!! i
One of my backpacking buddies just upgraded to this beanie after a cold night on a recent overnighter where we both suspected he did not have his dome adequately insulated. He picked one up in the Carbide/Lichen and it looks good. His initial assessment has been positive, although I suspect that if he had not gotten it at a sale price, he probably wouldn't have popped for it. He plans to roll with it as his regular backpacking beanie.

Pros: Keeps my head warm, nice and soft, looks cool, perfect for So Cal.
Cons: $35 is a tad steep for a beanie, but my wife bought it for me so doesn't matter
Overall I love this thing, it fits my round head perfect, covers my ears just right, isn't too heavy, not too light. I can wear in snowboarding or camping. In the winter in the backcountry I have it on all day. During Spring and Fall, works great for the cooler afternoons and evenings. If you like to sleep with your beanie on your noggin, this stays on nice and not too tight to keep your lid warm for the evening. Sometimes I opt for this instead of tucking my head deep in my bags hood and it works great.
This beanie is awesome. Finally, I found one which covers my ears COMPLETELY. Its great. I'm only dissapointed that I just purchased mine and the only color choice was Rawhide and now they have a complete selection.
I picked one up about a year ago when the cheap knit cap I was wearing wasn't doing the job. This works great as far as keeping wind out of my ears and allowing my head to breathe. Works well down to around 20 deg Fahrenheit below that I use a MH dome.
If it would just go all the way over my ears it would be a perfect 5
awesome beanie !!! Love it !!! 50% wool 50%acrylic...fleece headband keeps ears & forehead warm...let's the top of your head ventilate a little...very nice! don't overheat in it when hiking picks up & your temp rises...very nice !!
This hat is a tight fit. I am a girl with average to small head size and it fit pretty snuggly. The fuschia color is actually more of a maroon color which is why I am returning it. Loved it but didn't color was not as expected. If you're a guy, this prob wont cover your ears.
Wandered cautiously into the Arc'teryx brand with this beanie.....olive with the blue bird. Smartest move I've made this winter. I'm bald (there I said it) so getting something that keeps my head warm but is also breathable and comfortable is key, both after a day on the slopes and waiting at the dock for my commuter ferry. This quickly became my go-to toque of choice. The merino wool is key and its built so sides are warm and snug but top doesn't feel clamped to your head like a bad toupee. I would highly recommend this and I plan on buying a bright orange one to piss off my wife (she thinks I'll look like a traffic cone).
The Arc'teryx Bird Head hat is the best winter hat I've ever owned. The fit is perfect - completely covers the ears, isn't so tight that it causes itching, but snug enough to stay in place. On those really windy days it does an excellent job of blocking the wind, and yet on the calmer days it breathes enough to keep my head nice and dry.
This hat is the perfect combination of fit, function and style. You won't be disappointed with it.
I wear a size 6-7/8 --> 7 hat and this is pretty tight, but extremely warm and stays in place on your head. If you aren't used wearing a beanie your ears could hurt a little after wearing this beanie.
This thing is cozy. Nice fleece lining around the ears, good fit, nice looking emblem, feels the right temperature at all time. I felt as though I'd like something that went down a little more during snowboarding, I'd give it a 4-4.5 for that purpose (my head is 7 1/4), but in all other situations it's a knockout 5 stars
I like this hat! Warm and comfortable, my only complaint is that it is just a little short. It doesn't cover the bottom of my earlobes. Otherwise, SWEET!
Great hat. Comfortable, stylish, nice fit. Fits nicely on my head without a bunch of extra fabric at the top when I pull it down to cover my ears. Warm on my bald head!
This beanie is great. I wear a large in fitted ball caps, and this beanie is large enough to keep my head warm from my eyebrows to the base of my neck. It would fit perfectly if it were just a tad smaller, but as is, it still looks quite good. The base of the beanie is lined and does well in making sure your ears are nice and toasty. The color I ordered was fuchsia and the actual color is very close, maybe just a smidge brighter. A great purchase.
Season after season, I love this lid! Right combo of warmth and light weight, nice little band on the inside when you get sweaty. This is a nice choice.
I have this hat in the 'Blackbird' color and I love it. It is warm and breathes well. It also fits my head well, and does not have any of that extra material bulging-up in weird spots. As other reviewers pointed out, it covers the back of my head behind the ears, too.
I won't lie--the big bird logo definitely shows the love!
just received mine in the mail. what a beautiful design and super high quality materials. the inner lining is extremely soft and the hat itself has a great fit (i have a bigger head so it's hard to find good fitting beanies). the logo is bold, yet subtle in a way, and the embroidery of the ARC'TERYX brand name is appropriate in size. i for one like to show off my ARC'TERYX gear, so this is a perfect addition to the arsenal. A+++ as always with this brand. now if they only had a discount club!
Wore the Bird Head Beanie on my summit attempt of Mt. Rainier and was completely satisfied. I have a normal size dude's head and wore this comfortably under my climbing helmet. Head and ears never got cold. The beanie pulled down comfortably to fully cover my ears and the back of my head to below my hairline. I hate beanies that leave that gap between it and the collar. No problems here.
This beanie is by far my favorite! I was amazed at how thin it was and how warm it is! My head is average to small and it fits perfect, not to tight and not to loose. I have not been this satisfied with buying a hat!
The Bird Head Beanie is sized just right for my average sized head. I also ordered a Covert Beanie for my girlfriend, which is also one size fits all, but the Covert is a bit smaller.
I wore it on Kilimanjaro, usually as my only hat, also on Summit Day. Kept me warm enough!
I have a normal-sized head and this hat fits perfect (I'm female). It fits to just below my ear-lobes. I really like the inside fleece-liner around forehead and ears so it doesn't itch. I also have room to wear a fleece headband underneath for extra cold days.
I like it ... first rate as ski caps go. Good fit, light, warm with a nice liner. The women aren't chasing me any more than before but I didn't really expect that.
