    A do-everything jacket for do-it-all adventurers.

The gear in the Arc'teryx Essentials collection is designed to do everything, and Beta LT Hybrid Men's Jacket is designed to do the most everything of all.  It's the most packable and supple jacket in the line, due to Gore-Tex Paclite fabric that's waterproof and breathable, and a trim, e3D ergonomic and articulated fit that moves with you whether you're skiing, hiking, or just walking around town. It features WaterTight underarm zips to cool things down if you're working up a sweat, and a helmet-compatible DropHood that adjusts with a single pull. There are even 3L Gore-Tex reinforcements on the shoulders, sides, and underarms, to stand up to the harsh treatment that you, and Mother Nature, dish out.

    • WaterTight underarm and front zippers
    • Trim fit with e3D ergonomic and articulated construction

    Arcteryx shell

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Awesome lightweight shell. Keeps you dry with the goretex lining but allows your body to breathe so you don't get too warm. This is my favorite shell for skiing, hiking and climbing. Another great product from Arcteryx. In cold conditions you will need to layer underneath.

    What Wind?

    • Fit: True to size

Highly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of this jacket. I own several other Arc'teryx jackets and have never been let down, but this jacket has truly exceeded my expectations. I've not worn it in very cold weather yet but have worn it hiking with some chilly winds and couldn't feel any breeze coming through the jacket what so ever! Can't wait to try out as a layering piece when the temperature really starts to drop!

    Quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Size Bought: Medium

Like most Arc'teryx items I've tried, the Beta LT Hybrid is beautifully crafted. I was initially worried about going for this over the pricier and heavier duty SV jacket, but right now I'm very pleased not having laid out the extra dough. I haven't had it up in the PNW just yet and that'll be the true test, but so far it's keeping me dry and cool as expected.

If you're considering an Arc'teryx shell it's worth noting the Beta line of shells is slightly shorter than the Alpha, sitting about at waist height. If you have a longer torso or prefer more coverage, you may want to consider Alpha.

    Perfect!

I got this as a gift for my dad, and he has used it almost daily since! He is a professional pilot and avid cyclist and all around outdoors person so he wanted a jacket that is lightweight, packable, durable, good for all types of weather conditions, and can be used for both casual and sport wear. This jacket fits the bill!

Dryer than a British Sense of humor

Truly a great all around jacket. Lightweight, strong, super burly for what it is, and also fashionable. I've thrown everything from errant crampon points to leaky Aquamira and it has always come out on top (minus a spot where the Aquamira bleached the fabric [read: it has character]). Well worth the price tag.

    Stay dry!

This Beta jacket is super light and packs down very well for such a functional jacket. The Arc'teryx name I knew brought quality . This jacket is comfortable enough to forget you have it on once inside the house! I have not taken this out yet in tough conditions but from what I have seen how it functions in the local rain comfort, I can't wait to give it a go this next rain season here in the NW.

    Dad Approved!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this for my cute dad because he usually takes brisk 7-10 mile walks everyday. He used to wear some flannel he probably bought at Costco, but I wanted him to have something warmer, and he loves it. He said it does a great job protecting against the wind, it's very warm without being bulky, and it's lightweight and unobtrusive.

    Durable, protective, and flexible

I ended up choosing the Beta LT Hybrid over the Beta LT for price, portability, and pit zips. I wanted something for more overall use and this definitely fit the bill. I have used it for 3-4 day treks, skiing (although not made for it), as well as every day use for getting to work in the city for over a year.

Despite using GT paclite over the pro membrane, it still kept me very dry. I believe one of the main differences between the beta and alpha line is the cut and the beta is definitely slimmer and shorter so keep that in mind. For this reason I think it's probably better suited for hikes with large changes in elevation, rock/alpine climbing, or any other activities that require larger range of motion.

Despite it being slimmer, I haven't had any issues wearing this with a base layer and mid-layer down jacket. It's extremely light and packable so it's great for saving space.

True to description. 5'10'', 165 lbs, muscular build. I got medium and it fits great. I have medium Atom LT hoody and medium Patagonia down sweater that both fit comfortable under the jacket.

    Tried and True

I have tested this jacket in gale force winds and it torrential downpours. It has seen everything for scrapes and brushes with trees and bushes to falls at 20 miles an hour off of my longboard. After owning many shells I was excited to try my first Arc'teryx shell. Despite being the Paclite material, this thing can withstand just about anything. Like I said, I have fallen off of my longboard onto asphalt with this thing on a came away with one tiny hold in the wrist that can be covered very easily. It is definitely waterproof, I have taken it out in downpours and blizzards alike with no seeping issues, and breathable enough to hike and climb in very comfortably. The hood is definitely helmet compatible but cinches down nicely if you just have a hat on or even if there is nothing on your head.

Finally it is definitely a trim fit, so keep that in mind when ordering. If you are on the broader side, it may be worth your while to size up a little bit!

    THRU HIKE TESTED

My daughter and I recently thru-hiked the Colorado Trail. We had 36 hiking days and encountered weather events on a daily basis including a sudden and lengthy early morning hail storm with high winds above timberline. We both used the Beta LT Hybrid Jacket as our outer layer for wind & rain protection. This jacket was an excellent choice for consecutive everyday use. We also enjoyed the comfort of the collar which offset the wee bit of extra weight associated with it. The Jacket was durable and ideal for this application. A very good choice for 3-season hiking and backpacking.

    Wonderful jacket

I got my boyfriend this jacket after he got me the same jacket in women's for my birthday. We both love the jackets. For him, it is an all around great shell. Super light weight, durable, and looks handsome as well. It does seem to fit a bit awkwardly at the beginning but once you get the bungees fitted correctly, it is a lot more comfortable and feels like a second skin. The size you get will depend, I think, on what you want to use it for. For skiing, I would order on the larger side but for a lighter rainy day/wind shell I would go smaller.

    Way Too Short

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I am 5'10 and 185 lbs. I bought a LARGE and this jacket didn't even reach my hips. If Arcteryxs is going to make a shell then why wouldn't they make it long enough to block out the wind and rain coming at you? Arcteryx screwed up on the length on this one.

I think of hip length as 1 inch below the belt line. The jacket rested on the top of the pant waist line or on top of the belt line if shoulders shrugged. Seemed very short to me. I did not test the product so I cannot give any sense of durability, waterproof, windproof analysis.

I gave this as a gift to my father. He loves it!

This shell is lightweight and can pack quite small. It is fully wind and waterproof and has the quality we have come to expect from Arc'teryx. This is the prefect shell for someone looking for a rain/snow shell for backpacking or traveling.

I purchased this in the XL and it fits well. My father is 6 ft and weighs in around 210 lbs.

Lightweight, dry, great fit, and quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Fast version: 5'11", 165 lbs, medium fits perfect for a fleece jacket if not something thicker under. Pockets perfect for wearing a pack, hood is spacious but can be adjusted, goretex holds up great.

Longer version: After a month of comparisons looking at different hard shells out there I pulled the trigger on this shell and not a moment too soon. Right out of the bag (which was shipped insanely fast) it was packed up and taken down to Moab. I spent the day hiking through arches in a mixture of snow, rain, wind, and something in between all those. This jacket help up admirably. The DWR coating on a new jacket worked as expected and shed water so quickly it soaked my pants. On the little longer hike to delicate arch with a backpack on, I expected some water to make it through the shoulders however at the end of the hike, I was bone dry under the jacket. The pockets are perfect height for access while wearing a pack. The hood is VERY big, but has drawcords to cinch it down to fit a helmet-less head. I look forward to seeing how it holds up and after I can put it through the wringer I will report back.

Lightweight, dry, great fit, and quality

    Thoughts

Thoughts on this as a shell for skiing? I am worried ti won't be durable/windproof enough, (obviously would layer under it but still). Is the more expensive beta lt not hybrid the move?

It's not my go to skiing jacket. For me it isn't quite long enough in the front to be used in any skiing condition. I like a little more coverage and room for really stormy days. The hybrid is just two different gore tex fabrics in one jacket. Packlite and the 3layer pro. Its just a good way to cut weight and size for backpacking trips

      Does it all.

I got this jacket because I love to hike in the Adirondacks and I needed a jacket to use all year round. I purchased this jacket 2 years ago on sale in a large so that it would be easy to layer with. I would recommend sizing up only if you intend to use the jacket in the winter because this jacket has plenty of room to layer for most occasions. The only real complaint I have is that condensation can build up easily on a warm day but this is due more to the fact that it is Gore-Tex not because the pit zips are to small. I would recommend checking out different fabrics if your intended use will be in the summer time because there are fabrics that can manage moisture more effectively. So instead of starting to breathe when there's a cloud of moisture in your jacket, other fabrics can start breathing almost immediately. Overall the jacket performs well and the only real complaint I have is about the material which still works very well. My only other complaint is the price which is a factor you will have to weigh.

      Hey Daniel/folks,

The dimensions of the Beta LT H fit me perfectly in Small. How can I find out what other Arc jackets have the same dimensions, so as to increase my options? Thanks!!

When will the Black or Anvil Grey versions be available in L again? I would like a notification
