Whether you're climbing up or skiing down, the Arc'teryx Men's Beta AR Pant provides the performance features needed for a dry, comfortable trip. Designed for the alpine purist, the pant is lightweight and highly versatile for any sport or conditions.
  • WaterTight zippers and cuff gaiters seal moisture out completely
  • Side zippers end just below the waist, so the pants are easy to slip off and on, and the zipper won't create a pressure point under your harness or pack
  • Keprotec instep patches provide protection from boots, crampons, and ski edges
  • Adjustable webbing belt at the waist lets you adjust the pant's fit

A Necessity

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

these pants stay in a pack that goes everywhere with me. They will keep you 100% dry. i Use them more as a rain hiking pant. I have skied inthem one time and they did a great job. I am 6' 00 185lbs and bought medium reg. and they fit perfect. I can put them on over a pair regular pants or just over a base layer.

DONT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THEM

Bad quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Wears out pretty quickly. I used it only on a few trips and then it ripped. Well, I glissaded in them, but I've seen other pants taking this kind of use without any damage.
Arcteryx then charged my $80 for a warranty replacement. I always thought you pay a premium price to get premium quality and customer service, but I guess I was wrong.

I want a nightshade's s/short pant for a long time.

It's a good looking color. I like it, too.

Solid, could be lighter

High quality, comfy, durable-lightweight pant. Only ding: Crampon pads are a bit much for everyday hiking, and limit packability. Would like to see these offered with a no/lighter pad option.

Amazing

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been looking for a shell pant that actually fits for a long time now. I'm 6'3" with a 30" waist and a 34"inch inseam. Finally, I stumbled across Arcteryx Beta AR pants in the Small/Long size. These fit me like a glove, snug at the waist with plenty of length in the inseam. Full length zips and built in gaiters are a nice touch. The best part about these pants is the feeling of quality that you get when you pull them on. I've used these for ice climbing and ski touring. A harness fits over them without any issues and they're very comfortable, even in the bar for an apres climb/ski drink.

Hells yeah!!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I went round and round trying to figure out what pant or bib to get. I thought these were going to be much more robust, but I am glad they aren't. Articulated knee and reinforced where you need it. A great pant.

Snow board / Snow Shoe

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these as I was looking for a more fitted shell instead of having to drag around the over-sized weight of a lot of the baggy pants out there. I'm 5'11 and 165lbs. and the Medium short fit me perfectly. These work great over my winter boots when snow shoeing to keep the snow out and feel plenty durable if i snag a tree branch and the cuff guard I don't worry as much with my snow shoe edges. It's a tight fit over my snowboard boots as they are typically very bulky, but I don't mind as the snow still stays out. I run various layers underneath now to stay warm and exited to have the flexibility come spring time to run light.

These are like my military grade gear. This is my second pair and they rock! Okay why so first they are lite ultra lite so if you are backwoods in British Columbie or washington you can easily pack them without notice. Also extremely durable i wore my last pair out my work bought me from here we used them as a rope in a rescue no prob no rips. The only reason im replacing is because i accidently put a knife through them. So i bought another pair. The old pair stiched /patched right up but i just keap them in my trunk. Only neg is the knees should have one more layer.

Excellent - Love it!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Excellent gore tex pants. If I were to do it again, I would have gone for one of their bib solutions, but that's just a preference.

Light and dry. Knees are bended reducing the resistance in the stiff fabric when you walk, climb or ski.

Can take a lot of abuse before it tears. I have a little one on my thigh after three years use. I've used it for alpine activities.

The ability to fasten these to the shoes are also an extremely useful feature.

82 kg (180ibs), 186cm (6'2"), athletic fit and I have medium tall. They fit nicely, but I have to be careful though, cause I'm almost getting too fat for them.. :)

Had another sizing question. I'm 5'9" about 150lbs with a 31"waist. I'd wear them primarily fo skiing with a 300 wt fleece and possibly shorts. May occasionally wear them over pants while hiking. Would a small or medium work best for me?

Responded on

I'd go for a medium.

awesome pants

I am 6.1 32 inseem 215 pounds and i have a pair of XL regular. they are a bit baggy and a tad long. Overall the fit is good. I didn't want to go with the large and not have enough room. I'd say the fit is comfortable for me. With that being said. These are just like the bibs without the extra material. I honestly wear the bibs more. I like the extra material. Like the bibs these have gaiters but lack the almost full length zipper. The one on these is good enough however. does the job. They have pockets as well where the bibs do not. Overall a great product and a nice alternative to the full bib. dry and warm as always. Enjoy!

I wear a size 32 x 32 pant, will a large or medium be best for me? I will probably wear a fleece lining under it as well.

Responded on

CB - the fit of these pants is designed to accommodate layers. As long as you're not trying to stuff some MC Hammer fleece pants in there a medium should fit you well.

Excellent jacket

Like all Arc Teryx products, this one is tough as nails. Reinforcement where needed but still light weight enough to take with you on hikes. The side zippers are great to vent off a little extra heat. If needed, there is room underneath for some extra layers for warmth.

Overall a great pair of pants to take when hiking in the wind or when weather is threatening.

Hello,
Im about a 36" waist with 32 or 33 inch inseam about 220 pounds. Looking to wear these in the woods over pants on rainy days all year as well as skiing in the winter. What size would work best? Im considering the XL to make room for pants or long underwear underneath

Thanks for the help

Responded on

Depends on what you want to layer. Long underwear/ technical close fitting shorts/ a fleece layer will fit under your normal size. Bulky pants like jeans etc, you should size up. The belt will cinch down the waist and the side entry zips will help. Enjoy, they are a nice piece of kit.

Responded on

hey there. seems like we are a similar build. I am 6.1 215 pounds. i typically wear a 36/32 pair of pants. i went with the XL regular and find them to be a comfortable fit. I am currently wearing them with a pair of cargo pants underneath as it is pouring out and i'm off for a hike.. They are a little baggier than i had hoped but it feels like if i went with the large the waist may be tight with a real pair of pants underneath. in the winter i just wear a warm layer underneath. good luck ed

Hi, i'm 5'10" 180lb 33x30 pants, will the large work for me? I heard these are cut pretty slim, I will be using them for snowboarding and like somewhat of a relax fit, not baggy but relax and roomy enough for a light base or fleece layer if needed. I own a Sabre pants and the fit is relax. I'm afraid medium might be ok at the waist but too slim on thights and legs andblarge might be too loose at the waist. Any help on sizing would be greatly appreciated.

Responded on

If you want a looser fit the Large would work for you in these Beta AR pants. Maybe just a bit big in the waist but the belt will take care of that.

Awesome shell

Lightweight, waterproof, breathable, etc. etc. etc. Used them in a combination of storm days and spring skiing and found them versatile when paired with the right insulation underlayer. The fit is also great for me - i got XL Long (36x36 in jeans) and the length is great without a super baggy fit. Only thing i would want is another pocket - they only have 1 smallish pocket.

Will medium Beta AR fit good over Gamma LT medium pant for sudden heavy rain protection?

Responded on

Arez, these are quality pants and that would be a nice combo.
