I own alot of Arcteryx. This is a great piece. I am 6' 175lb with an athletic build. The medium fits perfect. I can use it under my Atom SV ( size large) for additional layering on cold snowshoeing or hiking initiatives. It works well layering under a Gamma MX softshell. Even over a baselayer during the shoulder seasons. It breathes incredibly well , is much warmer than you'd think given its weight, and is a no brainer to bring with based on packability

I don't really wear this brand anymore but once I tried on this Atom LT vest at the local outfitter I had to have it. It is warm for the pack weight yet thin enough to fit inside the slimmest of Softshells. Even so it is still lofty and snug without being too tight but just remember, unless you have a basketball player sized torso, to size down.
At 5'8"/155lbs I usually wear medium in everything but the small Atom LT vest fit me. The tags even read next to the Small that it is equivalent to a Men's 38R which is a Medium in the USA.
Note: there is no hem cinch and the hemline has an elastic band that hugs your belt line when you zip it up so it is better to make sure the vest is not baggy when you buy it or the hem will just hang loose and cold air will blow in from the underside.
My only gripe is these are so limited in quantity that I had to wait an entire year for my size and color choice to return once the Fall 2011 stock had sold out. And yes by Thanksgiving pickings will be slim on these so it is pointless to wait for them to go on sale because they will already be gone or they will immediately disappear from existence the minute online retailers send out the annual Arcteryx Sale email.
Even at $144 the price is not so bad considering all of Arcteryx other vest items start at $199 (and those are all non-insulated fleece vests).
It is important to note that by 'design' the Atom LT vest is meant to be and works best, in my opinion, as a snug fitting mid layer and NOT an over sized outer layer!
The nylon outer shell material is super soft and wont last past a morning of mild bushwhacking.
Also yes it does have three generous pockets: two bonafide great hand-warmer zippered pockets and one deep zippered internal chest pocket.
This makes the entire piece a great deal considering.

My absolute favorite outerlayer Item, I have had a number of coats and vests form various brands but this is by far the most comfortable. Great for everything from running around town to spring backcountry exploits where a coat is just to much for the hike. Love it. I have last years model and it has held up to more abuse than any article of clothing ever should. Still looks feels and acts like new. Amazing product from a great brand.

I guess I just bought the last Nightshade in large for 104 bucks. Thats a good deal. I own the Atom LT in nightshade L and noticed that this has a different cut! One is athletic fit and one is trim. We shall see. I am 5'11 175.

Updates? Was the description just a typo, do they fit the same?
Runs Large

Depending on your preference, this vest may run large. I prefer my running clothes to fit fairly close, but at 6'1", 195 lbs, 42" chest and an athletic build, I found the vest to be pretty baggy. I am happy with it, but I would have preferred a more steamlined cut. The build quality is superb and the breathability of the sides and the wind protection up front make for a well designed running companion. I gave it four out of five because the Face material isn't "bound" to the insulating material. I don't know if this is a design element to aid in wicking moisture, but is a bit annoying. I don't think anyone will regret this purchase, just understand that it is not an insulated softshell vest.

Yeah what size did you buy?

Sorry for the long delay before responding, I went with the Large, which is what I initially ordered. It is too big for the fit I prefer but it functions as needed. My current location precluded returning it for what would have likely been a better fitting medium.
Love this vest!

I bought this vest on sale, primarily for the shoulder seasons. When it is too warm out for a jacket, but a bit too cool for just a t-shirt. It works perfectly for this. I'm 6'2", 175, and the medium fits great. Little longer cut, falls below the waist. One of the main reasons that I got this was because I have the Atom SV jacket which rocks - so - hard! Since I was impressed with that, I figured that the vest would be a great addition.

One of the best vest I think you can buy. This vest is very light and thin but there is no warmth sacrificed. Arc'teryx has made a great product and Backcountry is a great company. Thanks

Love the way this guy fits. It's super comfortable - you can't even tell you're wearing it. At the same time, it keeps the core really warm. Also love the versatility of the vest - I can wear it on the mountain or out in the evening and it looks great. I am 5'11", 170 and am often between sizes (M&L) and ended up going with the medium and it's perfect. So, if you're between sizes, I would recommend sizing down.
