Atom LT and Atom AR

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have both the Atom LT and the Atom AR. I guess this review points out what I feel are the major differences and some similarities. The Atom AR has more Coreloft insulation, and of course makes the jacket warmer. I use it for trekking or just around town on fairly cold days. Awesome warmth. I've found the LT is good to about the high 40s to around 50 degrees before I start feeling cold, just when used for casual use. The LT has a trim fit where as the AR has an athletic cut, (Arc'teryx's standard fit) so the LT has a closer-to-skin trimmer fit, but still room for a light layer. I use it often for running. It breathes fairly well due to it's light weight. I have the LT in the carbon copy color, which is a very dark gray, bordering on black and my Atom AR is a dark gray, too (The LT is much darker) I really like the stretch panels that are part of the Atom LT jacket. As the AR has a loser fit, those panels aren't as necessary, but I do wish the AR had them. Great jacket. Glad I have both for different uses and different temps.

So Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Really comfy. Really warm when used under a 3L shell. As usual, arcteryx cut - if you're not super fit and skinny, it probably won't fit.

Responded on

Have to disagree with expectations for fit. I am 5'9, 175 and built athletically but definitely NOT skinny - a LG fits me like a glove. I just wish it had zippered outside chest pocket. Love it.

Responded on

I was shocked - but pleasantly surprised - at 6'2" and 195 lbs and semi-fit body that I can wear the Atom LT in a size XL, with room for a fairly decent amount of base layers. Never thought I'd be able to wear a "trim fit" Arc'teryx jacket.
