It may not weigh as little as an atom, but it's still pretty darn light.

Weighing in at less than a pound, the Arc'teryx Women's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket is your go-to, lightweight, compressible hiking jacket. Its Luminara fabric is micro-light yet durable, wind-resistant, and breathable. Arc'teryx added Polartec Power Stretch panels on the sides and underarms of the jacket for four-way mobility and 60g Coreloft insulation in the torso, arms, and hood for warmth. A DWR coating helps shed light precipitation and, when the clouds clear out and the weather warms up, this jacket easily compresses into its own sleeve.

The Atom LT has a trim fit to reduce bulk completely for comfortable layering when you hit the slopes. Its insulated Scuba Hood seals out the cold and stays comfortable when you wear a helmet over it. The jersey-knit stretch cuffs are incredibly cozy over your wrists and keep the jacket in place under your waterproof shell.

  • Luminara face fabric with DWR finish
  • Polartec Power Stretch Hardface side and underarm panels
  • 60g Coreloft insulation in torso, arms, and hood
  • Trim fit
  • Scuba Hood
  • Jersey-knit stretch cuffs
  • Packs into its own pocket, sleeve, or hood

Great for ski touring.
I've throttled this for 2 winters now.
It's my go-to layer of choice.

It rocks so hard you'll want another!

Hands down, this is the best synthetic jacket on the market. This jacket has passed every possible test: gnar test, durability test, warmth test, how-many-things-can-i-spill-on-it-before-washing-it test and versatility test. The first day I got this jacket, I spilled coffee all over it - but hey, no problem! The moisture resistant exterior handled it like a champ: the liquid beaded right off. Warmth wise: I run cold. During the winter months I use this jacket as a sweater; throughout the rest of the seasons it's my go to everything jacket. As others have said, this is a stellar midlayer for aerobic sports, and also makes an awesome stand alone jacket. It's my go to spring climbing jacket: I never worry about the material against the rock (although I probably should), it's warm, lightweight, relatively wind resistant and if it gets gusty, I throw up the ole trusty hood. The fleece paneling on the sides doesn't pill, and rarely smells. Well, it will stink if you never wash it (follow washing instructions on the inside). The fleece paneling does stretch a little, but not a significant amount.

I strongly encourage anyone who is on the hunt for a synthetic jacket to skip all other options and go for the Atom LT. No other jacket compares. You will love this jacket.

Color specs: I originally purchased this jacket in the Tiger Lily color: whoa did I totally jump out of my comfort zone of purples, blues and blacks. This is a BRIGHT color. I personally liked the red/orange they had the year prior. I ended up loving on the jacket so much that I purchased it in black as well. Size wise, I wear XS in Patagonia and a Small in Arc'teryx. Grab a medium if you want it a little more loose and slightly longer in the torso. Arc'teryx definitely has a Euro cut - so keep that in mind! If you're a busty, but petite gal I might encourage you to buy a medium.

It rocks so hard you'll want another!

Best jacket ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have been using this jacket for everything-- skiing, hiking, around town. It does an awesome job at blocking wind. It is a somewhat trim fit, so if you want to layer a lot, buy a bigger size. It also is a little short in the back for skiing, but I still use it.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

This jacket is just absolutely amazing. I bought an XL because I like to be comfortable, so I recommend sizing up if you want that type of feel ( I think my normal L would have been snug). The jacket is windproof, waterproof, and is so comfortable, I wore it to bed. It's slimming, and looks great on! I got the Tiger Lily, and the color is awesome. Bright and fun. For reference, I am muscular, curvy, and about 5'6.5".

Second year going strong

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

What can I say...this became my favorite jacket the day I bought it. It is very lightweight, and extremely flexible. I detest feeling restricted in movement - I love that I can do anything with this jacket: hike, ride, climb, etc. It's also very stylish and beautifully formfitting (I also wear it to work, to town, etc.). I have other jackets and coats, but this is my trusty staple. I have survived snowy winters just wearing this, and a tanktop + a wool undershirt beneath. You can even fit a fleece under it, if needed. I can't say enough good things about this little piece. The only thing that ever happened that made me quite sad is that I pinched the inside chest pocket zipper, and it broke after I tried to release the pinch. I can still stick cash and cards in there and they won't fall out. It's just too bad that it's starting to fall apart. Buy one, you will love it!

MVP- Most Valuable Piece

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As you can tell from the title I love this piece. It is truly one of the most versatile jackets that I have ever owned. I wear it climbing, hiking, skiing and just around town. The color I got was the Heron and it's perfect the grey exterior is subtle but the pinky burgundy color on the inside is fun and eye catching.
The fit is slim so if you like to layer under get a size up from what you normally wear. I am 5'4" 34 in the chest and 115 lbs (normally a small) and I got the medium. It ends right below my hip and is not tight at all when I am climbing and that is why I went a size up.
Also it is so light and small. A cool feature is that it stuffs into it's own sleeve so when I am touring and need to save the space for my gear I just quickly stuff it in and it packs down super small!! It's amazing!!!
Warmth is totally not an issue. It's a great layering piece but it does well on it's own too. I wear it around town with a long sleeve shirt and I'm perfect in 20 degree weather. The side panels are thinner so if you do build up some heat, while touring or climbing, it can be released quickly. Also it holds up in light rain and snow really well. The DWR finish helps repel moisture and keeps you dry!
I really can't recommend a better piece to use for all the activities mentioned above.

Arcteryx never fails

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

This was a Christmas present for my wife and Santa did good. This is the ultimate mid layer. So warm and light and Arcteryx has figured out how to have a flattering cut on their women's jackets. The wife loves the Malachite color. You can't go wrong with anything from Arcteryx.

How does the Atom LT Hoody and Atom SV...

How does the Atom LT Hoody and Atom SV Hoody differ in back length, warmth and styling? The Atom SV hood looks scrunched on the model. To someone who has both, which one is better as a mid layer and standalone?

Best Answer Responded on

Those are both an athletic fit in Arc'teryx's line. The SV has a center back length of 27" in the womens version while the LT is about 26.25". The SV will be the warmer of the two jackets, and while eaither of them will function as either a standalone or mid-layer, the SV is intended to be a more severe weather and will have both a heavier outer shell as well as heavier duty insulation. In Arcteryx parlance SV=Severe conditions and LT=Lighweight.

Best Mid-Layer & Lightweight Jacket Ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This extremely high quality jacket is everything they say and worth every dime. The fabric is superior and the outer layer even has a small amount of stretch; add that to the other technical fabric in this jacket and you've got a lightweight, compactible, jacket that moves and breathes with you. The jersey knit stretch cuffs are integrated into the design in a subtle way and are a pleasant surprise that hugs the wrists and is soft and comfy. Flattering and ample body length for coverage and great sleeve length. Fit is true to size. This is one jacket you'll never feel constricted in...super comfortable fit for active use.

Best Jacket Ever!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love love love this jacket!!! Here's some reasons why:

- incredibly comfortable
- super light
- compresses down to pretty darn small
- articulated elbows (no tight feeling when bending the arms or bunching on the inside of your elbow)
- dries fast
- small wrists (keeps out wind and great for layering)
- smooth zipper (Arc'teryx quality everything)
- fits and looks great

This jacket is super awesome for a few different activities. I bought it initially for wearing with my drysuit (on winter river trips) because the slim sleeve design fits well under a drysuit with gasketed wrists, but then I found out once I had it, it's the best cold weather running jacket I've ever worn! (By cold, I mean cold).

I am 5'5", 105 lbs, measurements are 30x24x34 and I went with a small. I could've done an XS (I tried them both on) and I went with the small for the extra length in the torse, but either worked fit wise.

Not as pictured

This would've been my second Atom LT hoodie but the one that I received is not as pictured--I bought the Heron color which in the photo only has pink in the lining, but the one I got has hot pink piping around the hood. I don't know where this sudden trend in contrast-color trim came from , but I hate it. I'm returning this jacket and waiting for this trend to die.
My previous Atom LT hoody (all black!) is the bomb--warm enough to wear as an outer layer in cool weather and layers great in cold weather. Super comfortable and fits really nicely without bulk or puffiness.
