    Never leave home without it.

Who needs a multi-tool when you've got the Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket? Well, you don't—though, you might want to bring one along anyway (just in case). More specifically, the designers over at Arc'teryx made the Atom LT versatile enough to handle year-round mountain adventures ranging from climbing to skiing.

The Atom LT is constructed with a durable, breathable, and lightweight Tyono exterior, while the DWR treatment fends off light rainfall—meaning you stay relatively dry no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. To bolster its adaptability, the Atom LT is equipped with gusseted underarms and Polartec Power Stretch side panels to ensure an unimpeded range of motion whether you're wearing it as a midlayer or an external shell. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the Atom LT's synthetic Coreloft insulation. This synthetic insulation not only retains warmth in wet weather, but also offers maximum thermal efficiency without compromising the compressibility of the fibers. A StormHood slides over helmets with ease, and the adjustable hem provides a personalized, snug fit should you desire it.

    • A versatile, highly adaptive jacket for all aerobic activities
    • Tyono exterior is durable and wind-resistant for protection
    • DWR treatment sheds light moisture easily
    • Coreloft insulation keeps you warm even when wet
    • Stretch side panels promote unobstructed mobility
    • Articulated elbows and gusseted underarm bolster comfort
    • Helmet-compatible hood is insulated for added warmth
    • Adjustable hem provides a personalized fit and feel

Atom LT for the win, 2 times over now!!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Simply put, this jacket is amaaaaazing! It is my everything jacket. I use it as much as possible. Perfect for wearing on every day dog walks, taking out the garbage, riding mopeds, and normal casual use. I'm onto my second one of these jackets because why not have a different color in each picture you take.

But the best part is for use in the backcountry. It's light and durable and pretty warm for that weight. I've brought this on many hikes and it's made it to a few peaks too. It won't make it through a downpour but it has kept me dry through a light rain. This jacket is in my pack when backpacking about 90% of my trips.

I love this jacket for than using a puffy or similar jacket because of that durability. I don't have to worry when I'm climbing if I snag a rock and rip out all my feathers (because this jacket has none). The hood is nice and fits a helmet snug. It's a standard fitting jacket I'd say. I'm 5'10" 165 lbs and I can still fit a small layer underneath.

If there's any ONE jacket that you NEED in your closet, it's definitely the Atom LT.

    Boxy

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: large

I'm 6'1'' 165lbs, chest 40" and tried the large. Arm length is perfect as are shoulders but body is wide. I think this would better fit someone pushing 200lbs or with a rather wide middle. The Admiral color, lined pockets, look of the coat are all very nice. Just can't keep the coat looking so boxy. I see no flaw other than the cut or my choice of size.

    fantastic gear

I love this jacket because of the incredible build quality that Arcteryx is and has been providing. This Jacket is a true staple for anyone. it is so well made in every aspect. I love how light weight it is but it provides a level of warmth that is hard to believe. It also provides great ventilation on the side in case it gets too warm.
I love this Jacket and will buy more versions and colors of it in time.... Thank you Arcteryx for what you provide.

    Gift it

If you really want to win the heart of the outdoorsy person of the family get them one of these! Super versatile and amazingly comfortable. Ability to dump heat through the stretch panels makes it a great layer for active people. it can be dressed down or up for casual or semi formal events. You will look SO stylish on the mountain, in the office or around town. I got this one for my uncle and he is about 5'8" and around 170 lbs and he got a size large.

By far the best layering jacket I have ever owned. The way the Atom LT bends and moves with your body when reaching just puts all of the other jackets to shame. Mix the Atom LT with the Alpha SV and the duo is just bomb proof.

You also don't even notice the hood when you aren't using it even with other jackets on over top. Very compact-able and super light weight.

    holy cow what a jacket!

This is the best purchase I have ever made. I am a backcountry skier, hiker and paddler. I am also an avid trail runner pushing long distances. I usually have a pack on which means that the shoulder straps rub against the fabric. In my time with this jacket there as barely been any ware on it. As a runner, this jacket actually breaths! Of course I have to wear it only in cold weather while running, but once it drops below 40 degrees, I never have to take it off. The flannel lining allows this jacket to insulate as well as remove excess heat. I am so pleased and everyone should get this thing.

Ideal mid layer and light jacket

This thing is awesome. Extremely warm for how lightweight it is. Very comparable to Patagonia's Nano air line. I would say this is lighter but not as warm. Throw a shell over this and you are ready for most Alpine situations in Fall and Winter. I wouldn't use this probably in anything under 20 degrees unless I was doing some hardcore hiking and exploring. Great piece of gear and I would recommend it without any reservation. Backcountry got it to me lighting fast with 2 day free shipping. Very happy with the purchase! #goatworthy!!!

      Perfect mid layer

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium

I've used this jacket for years. It is perfect for almost any situation. It's shockingly warm and can be used as the only insulation layer for most situations yet breaths so well, that one is rarely overly warm. It's perfect for skiing in CO. Great on bigger peaks as well. I didn't take it off for an entire week long Denali prep on Rainier in February. Don't waste time thinking too hard about this one, just get it and you'll be happy.

      You already know.

What can I say about this hoody that hasn't been said a million times? I take it absolutely everywhere, it packs small so it's never in the way. It works so well in such a wide temperature range, I rarely consider taking much more with me. It really breathes well if I'm hiking pretty hard and start to heat up, and at the end of the day, I sometimes just put it on because it's cozy. Additionally, it's one of the best looking pieces of clothing I own. Stop reading and buy two.

Recently went through an extensive search for a lightweight jacket that can do anything. After many attempts , I came across this jacket and couldn't be happier. Packs well, layers well and the hood is money. Nice fit where other products were too Baggie.

      Arc'teryx – Men's Atom LT Hoody

This trim hybrid hoody is designed as an active-use insulation layer, providing vital core warmth with liberal mobility and breathability. Lightweight and compressible, the Atom LT Hoody features Coreloft™ insulation in the torso, arms and hood. The side panels and underarms feature Polartec® Power Stretch® with Hardface® Technology, delivering stretch mobility and breathability. A wind and moisture resistant outer shell extends stand-alone usability.

Fact: Every person at Head Office owns at least one Atom LT; most of the women have two.

The reason: Coreloft™ insulation inside a light taffeta shell. All the comfort of a sleeping bag, but it feels weightless.

      Never fails to impress

Bought this as a gift for a friend. I have one myself as well. Super light weight, durable, and warm. Water resistant, and packs down nice. Good in all climates and a perfect jacket for a hike. This jacket is my go to for basically any activity. The fit is great and range of motion is excellent a classic Arcteryx staple.

        Great Arc'teryx Jacket.

I gave this as a gift and have received only rave reviews since. He has had it a few months now and loves the versatility. It blocks wind well while still being able to breathe, and it will keep you dry for a bit unless the rain is really hammering down. Added bonus, it looks sweet, can be worn out on the trail or out on the town, hard to go wrong!

Has anyone had any problems with the zipper? I haven't worn it yet but just pulling the jacket open when it's half zipped, tends to unzip really easy.

Just concerned of it unzipping easily while doing things.

My heigh is 5'5", should I go for the xs or small one? I also wanted to know how long is the jacket (is it hip length or like in the mid thigh)?

Unsure about what size I should get...I am 6'0 170lbs with a slim/athletic build. I want to be able to wear a fleece jacket underneath this, so I was thinking a large, but I am not sure...

I'm built similar to you (6'1" 175lbs) and sport a medium in this jacket and would not be able to fit a light 100wt fleece under this comfortably. You would probably be better suited with a large if heavy layering will be used. It's a tad slimmer than say a similar Patagonia sized jacket, but works great with a long sleeve shirt or thermal. I love this jacket for it's weight to warmth ratio you will not be disappointed...

How well does the hood fit when not wearing a helmet?

Hey Matthew, I've never worn a helmet with mine and have had no issues with the hood. I do not own the newest version of the Atom LT, so my hood doesn't even have any adjustments. Considering my experience and how you can now adjust the hood, I'm confident you won't have any problems.

I am trying to decide between the hood or no hood. Definitely plan to use it under my shell for skiing which is where the hood could be annoying. But for other things where I use it as an outer layer (belaying mostly and/or hiking) the hood may be nice. Is the hood annoying under a coat or is it not too bad?

        Hi, I'm 181 cm / 73kg / 95 cm chest.

Would you recommend a Medium or a Small?

The chest measurement is the best to go off of when picking out jackets. The small will actually be a perfect fit for you if you want to wear the jacket the way it was intended to be worn which is athletic or slightly tighter for people climbing in it. If you want a much more relaxed fit then the medium is an option but, I feel that it would be way to big as the small chest measurement fits best for people at 97cm.

Is there a jacket similar to this but more waterproof? Open to other brands. thanks!

With the DWR treatment this tends to shed rain about as well as a softshell. If you're looking for full waterproofing you'll probably want to look to a hardshell. If you're looking for light versatile layers I like the Patagonia Alpine Houdini as something to get on quick when the wet gets insistent.

I am 5'10 and 175 with an athletic build - what size would you recommend? Thanks!

How would you compare the warmth of this jacket to that of Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer or another similar down jacket?

        Best Answer

I think my Ghost Whisperer might be slightly warmer than my Atom.

The warmth of any down jacket is going to be directly related to the loft. Thicker = Warmer. Note - Fill Power is a measure of how light and packable the down is. This is where the Ghost Whisperer blows most jackets out of the water.

The atom still has an advantage in a lot of areas, however. It's more comfortable, I like the way it breathes better, I like the hood better, it's more abrasion resistant and it moves better. It's also going to do better in wet weather being that it's a synthetic. The Ghost Whisperer is still going to win in the lightweight and packable categories however so if that's your priority, then the ghost whisperer may be the way to go.

The atom is probably the best jacket for 85% of situations and a favorite of a lot of people I've worked with over the years in this industry. I think everyone should have (at least) one.

Why is "rusted copper" a shade of orange? Shouldn't it be a shade of green? Just sayin'.

So I am debating between the S and M i am 5' 7-8" and 145-150lbs i want to be able to add a layer like a hoody underneath so i don't know if the small would be to tight but i don't want the medium to be to baggy if i wasn't wearing a hoody under it. so not really sure what size to get any help is appreciated thanks!

        Hello,

At the moment I'm looking for a super versatile, do it all, tough jacket that I can rely on in a multitude of conditions. I've narrowed it down between the Patagonia Nano-Air Hooded vs. this Arc'Teryx Atom LT Hoody. Could someone give me a breakdown on the pros and cons between these two jackets? I'm trying to find as much info as possible so I can make the right decision when purchasing my next jacket. I've only found one article online that discusses these two jackets exclusively, so if anyone can help me out, that'd be great! Thank you very much!

        Hey Jane Hwang.

The man in the photo... what size he is wearing? And what is his height?

I see that the LT is Hood compatible. If worn without a helmet is the hood too large on your head. I would like to use this jacket without a helmet for hiking.

Also, is this jacket a 2014 version and does the hood and waist have draw strings ?

Aside from the LT being warmer how would you compare the LT to Outdoor Research Cathode Hooded jacket ?

How well does this hold up as an outer layer? Looking for a swiss army knife type jacket... Lightweight/Compressible, Insulated, Water Resistant/Proof... Hoping this might be the right piece. Love Arc'teryx gear in general. Thanks for any advice on it.

        Best Answer

Hey! Jacket definitely is water resistant but, not proof. I would also question the durability of this jacket on the mountain as an outer layer. As a around town jacket it is just fine, I would even wear it touring on the up but, on the down snagging trees and what not you really need a hard shell or at least the burlier version of this jacket in the AR version, http://www.backcountry.com/arcteryx-atom-ar-hooded-insulated-jacket-mens?ti=UExQIENhdDpNZW4ncyBTeW50aGV0aWMgSW5zdWxhdGlvbiBKYWNrZXRzOjE6MzpiY3NDYXQxMTEwMDE2&skid=ARC004D-BK-S

Does anyone know what is the main difference between atom leaf vs ordinary model?

Does leaf atom model have 40d fabric?

How does it compare in general to ordinary atom?

The main differences between the leaf model and the regular one are that the leaf has a more durable face fabric (called Gossamera--same fabric as the Atom AR), it is a few ounces heavier, has a "vertically routed" hip adjustment cord, and the color of the logo matches the fabric color. In my experience, the leaf model fits a little baggier. I ended up going with the regular model because it fits a little trimmer and is more packable, which is what I was looking for.

I bought an Atom LT hoody about a year ago on BackCountry. I love everything about this jacket except for one major issue. The main front zipper will not stay all the way up when doing almost any sort of activity. It literally falls down 4-5 inches even when just wearing a backpack. I talked to Arcteryx with no resolve and was told it was by design to make one hand operation easy. My question is have they fixed this design issue for the new model this year? I love my jacket but this zipper issue is a tough one to overlook, just wish I could somehow get it resolved from a company like Arcteryx........

I asked my buddy who used to work at Arc'teryx and he also says that the zipper is like that by design for easy one hand operation.

For instance, when you have a shell on and want easy access to some ventilation, you can unzip your shell and pull on the collar of the Atom LT to open it up some. While the zipper is soft, I have one myself and haven't had problems with it unzipping too much.

So to answer your question, no, they haven't fixed this--but they also don't see it as an issue since it was designed this way. Still love this jacket!

        Hi!

What is the color of sleeves cuffs on green color? On official page I notice that they are grey but on attached picture i noticing they are same color as body color.

        Please let me know.

        Thanks!

Have a question about the Carbon Copy color. Is this actually the black color? In REI and a few other sites like EVO, the carbon copy color is listed as black and their Carbon copy version has the blue trim and interior color. So which one is correct?
