Warmth and weather protection for guiding, touring, or ice climbing.
When it's cold, windy, and wet out, slip on the Arc'teryx Alpha SV Mitten. The Gore-Tex Pro 3L outer shell is made from 80D three-layer nylon, which sheds water and ice and stands up to abrasion season after season. The leather palm overlay adds an additional level of durability for longer mitten life. The removable fleece liner is made from Polartec Wind Pro fleece: wear it alone when conditions are mild, or wear the liner with the shell as you plant the next axe at the Ouray Ice Festival.
Micro-seam allowance (1.6mm) reduces the weight of the Alpha SV, and Gore seam tape augments the water resistance of the shell. Batten down the hatches with the wrist cinch and drawcord to prevent ice crystals from crawling up your arm, and remove the wrist leash when you don't need it. Whether you're a guide or you're out exploring the great white on your days off, keep your fingers working in the Arc'teryx Alpha SV mitten.

Best Glove Ever
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've been using this mitten for about three seasons now and I am VERY pleased with this product. I cross-country ski on the Bighorn Trail / Fawn Pass Loop in northwest Yellowstone National Park and my hands used to always be cold. Now, with these new mittens, my hands are VERY warm 99% of the time.
I ski in temperatures ranging from 10*F to 35*F and these gloves keep my hands cozy. Occasionally, if the wind is blowing hard, I will get a slight chill, but for the most part you will be happy with this mitten.
Removing and putting on this mitten is quick and easy. When I pause for a break the mitten design allows them to fit easily over my poles that I've thrust upright in the snow on either side of the track. The cuffs are perfect for what I need, fitting nicely over the extended sleeves of my wind-block fleece jacket. If I could give these mittens eight stars, I would!
Does anyone own this glove? I read some...
Does anyone own this glove? I read some reviews that said this mitt runs big. According to their size chart, I'm literally right in between the XS and the S. I'm thinking about sizing down to the XS but would love to know for sure if someone has a pair.
I have this glove in small and it feels like a good fit. I am a female. Buy it large enough to add another inner layer as it is not warm.
My hand measures 8.5 inches across (from tip of outstretched thumb to tip of out stretched little finger. I have a men's medium and it is very comfortable. Yes, I think they run large and you'll want to move down.
